howdy peeps, anyone up for a challenge?
i've got the urge to bung a rover v8 in my little gmc pickup
unfortunately................. its way beyond me and my mechanical skills
if anyones willing to help me out i'll supply all the tea and bacon sandwiches you can consume and there will be some beer tokens/ crates of beer for all involved
theres a granada v6+auto box in there at the mo, and theres plenty of room for a v8
i'll have the 'zorsts made up when its all in, so that wont be a worry
i know the trans tunnel might need cutting so I'm not too fussy about keeping it column shift if i can get a ratchet shifter cheap enough
i'll hopefully be picking up the engine and box soon
anyone willing to help me out?

Ah, bit too far for me to go! ;D I'm no engine transplant guru but I always like to lend a hand to fellow RR'ers where I can.
Your project sounds good!

well, the bodywork side of things i can do with no problem but the engines a pain for me
so far the project will be
3.5rv8 transplant ladderbar rear chassis with a 7.5t truck axle ( shorten'd to fit) with truck rims flatbed style conversion airbag rear shocks change the rear window to a yank spec sliding window re-do the interior
stack or side exit exhausts
think of a cross between the 2 pickups in the new fast and furious movie and you'll get the idea
all i need is the engine converted then the rest will fall into place

Where abouts are you? Took the words right out of my mouth. Bit too far for me aswell, sorry mate. When are you looking at starting the engine swap? Cheers, Stu.

it'll be in a few weeks, still looking at a few engines, unsure to get a old1 and get it rebuilt, or go for a runner with no issues and just change the timing chain
i'll be keeping whoevers interested up to date with the collection of the engine/ start of fitting etc

Have you thought about the ratios running a 7.5 ton axle , mate had a 318 dodge mated to truck axle (think it was cargo) and it revved its nuts off an done about 30 mph

i've had a thought about it, and i've got a few people on the look out for a new diff for it
might just modify the range rover axle as its built to take the power the v8 puts out
