Loving old scrapyard pics... A yard I used to frequent had loads of great stuff in it, including a 70's style custom Mk1 Sceptre, complete with cord door panels ... I had a cylinder head for my Triumph 2500 from there, and the last thing I bought was a MK3 Cortina windscreen. It's got houses on it now tho'... bet they find some interesting things when digging the garden
|
|
... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

It's time for some more scannering, as my daughter says. Apparently daddy will be able to mend these cars - yeah right. Some might even frighten ScrapingScrap...... This Skoda features a rather natty vinyl roof/boot. Seen in yard near Peterborough - very odd place built on an old railway yard and line, so it stretched out into the fields for miles. Bit difficult to walk around it, just had to jump from roof to roof. Same place also had this Peugeot 504. And even a C210 Skyline, which was very rusty - partly stripped and nothing really worth removing. CX Safari and Volvo 144 on top of who knows what in the brambles. To get to these cars I had to cross a huge pile of old gas cylinders.

This was a little yard near my village. I often find Avengers like this, nothing ever removed. BMW '02 with some MkI Golfs. And a BMC 1100/1300 4dr with 2 Skodas and a BMW 7-series. This seemed to be a forgotten corner of the yard, I recall there was also a MkI Capri with the fat Cologne type arches.

Right, back to the dearly loved Medler's. Now going through pic's of the old/weird stuff.... There was a couple of these wagons there, Chrysler of some sort? This was 1995/96, honest. Farina, Cresta PC, Victor, Rover P4, Minor Traveller and other old stuff. This was the bit of the yard I never even knew about for some years. MkIV aircraft carrier Zodiac/Zephyr, another P4 and Jag/Daimler in the trees, which I think had grown up around the cars. Yet another corner of the yard, with an old Prefect (nice Disney stickers) and a 105E in the background.

Yes!!! Ace pics spottedlaurel! I've been in that place near Peterborough, its fugging bizarre. Theres a Fiat 128, austin ambassador and early alfa 33 plus a 504 wagon and O-series Princess in there too (or at least there was when I went in about 3 years ago, cant imagine they have much 'turnaround'). He seems to have been 'expading' too, i'd love to have another ratch-up in that place. Brilliant!!

Oh yes so I did . Trouble is I wish I could contribute pictures like you do but the problem is round my part of the world ALL the scrapyards (oops Metal Reclimation centres : don't keep anything in them over 12 year old . Plus (and I've said this before) the cars they do have in are in better nick than some of the stuff I run on the road ;D!!!

Whoa, nice one Ministrone! That doesn't look like your average yard, they obviously like their old stuff. Is that Balby's or something?
J-plate is early for an Avenger isn't it?

What a freaking cool yard.
I've bought a few bits 'mail order' from Balby in the past & been well impressed. The yard looks stuffed full of old tat. LOVELY!

I think the black Humber is destined for the banger track Phuckers!!! It makes me sad to think that (no doubt several) people have invested large sums of money and lots of time repairing, maintaining, and storing that car carefully enough to coax it through a 40-year lifespan. Thanks to their work it manages it, and appears to have remained in pretty decent nick too - thus allowing some sky-TV watching fat tw@t to buy it for a few hundred quid and smash it to hell on an oval track, after which it will be crushed and forgotten about within days.

More from the depths of Medler's... BMC van of some sort? JU pops into my mind, but I know zilch about the many strange offerings they had at this time. MkII Jag (?) being reclaimed by nature. Err, I pass on this one. Loads of this pre- and post-war stuff rotting away. Mazda 1000. Ratdat had a few bits off this, as he had a nice 4-door one at the time. And a spectacularly rusty 180B 610. Screen taken off this by Ratdat as surround had totally rotted out, plus the L-series rocker cover with DATSUN on it rather than NISSAN.

Determined to get all the old scrapyard photos out into the free world, maybe another 40 to go? Would it be worth transferring across the the Gallery once complete? Jaguar 420? Old Merc, not too good on different types of these. Where's MercMad when you need him? MkI Consul. Screen removal would be easy! Rover P4, might have been 100 or 105? Very rusty MkI Granada/Consul, plus 2dr 100A F10 in the background and a Corsair estate. Got to say that a tastefully modded one of these would be great, always been fond of the Corsair. That'll do for now, don't expect an update tomorrow morning.....
