Hi, peeps, new to the forum and the scene. Re the gathering, what are the arrangements for camping on the friday or saturday? Will it be in the museums grounds?? Do we need to book tickets for that seperately or are they inc in the gathering ticket? Also it's £15 for car entry, how much is it to bring a guest(s)? Thanks in advance

Hello and welcome Camping is at the museum (in the field opposite) on Friday and Saturday evenings, just turn up and pay on the day (we're still finalising the price, but it won't be expensive!). Your £15 is per car,.. so bring as many friends as you can fit in

Just want to make sure i'll be able to get the van on the campsite, with there being an '89 cut off for the show site - I take it i'll still be able to drive a '58 plate onto the campsite?

Another quick silly question because I'm unsure of the layout of the site and want to make sure i don't do something silly and end up traveling 200-odd miles only to turn back... Just before i buy the ticket(s) obviously being a boring sod and coming in a modern it's going to spend its weekend on the campsite and we're going to be walking over to the show.... Am i going to need to buy two tickets (One for me, one for the mrs.) or are we still going to be covered in the one ticket one car scenario?

If you are coming in a modern and parking in the public car park,.. you aren't going to need to spend a bean From the site : The Retro Rides Gathering is open to everyone to attend and display their car if they would like. Attending in a non-retro/display car is free, you simply park in the public car park and come and have a look around the show. Where is the fun in that though? To get the most out of the event coming in a retro car and parking up in the show area is the most fun.

no ticket needed then... just money for camping. Sounds good to me, Just won't feel right not paying for entry though! Given most of the other users of this forum are going to be paying to get in!
Oh well, first rounds on me i guess!

What sorta space is there? More or less than last year? Just outta interest more than anything as I'm gonna try and get some final numbers for the spalding convoy on the Friday.
The way people have been bigging it up theres gonna be a sorta 15-16 car convoy coming down from my way, but I'd put money on what normally happens happening, and everyone will drop out at the last minute, lol.

this is the first time we have used these various facilities suppliers, and the water at the Haynes site. So we don't really know until we see what we get, and how well it works. If it isnt as great as we hope, then you can think to yourself; a) hey, it was only a fiver to camp for the whole weekend so i should be grateful i got anything! b) most shows here don't even bother to try and set up showers c) this is only year 1 of 3, its just a teething problem and i know they'll get it sorted for next year. Facilities has been a real PITA this year, but we've spent hours over recent weeks to do as best as we can. Hopefully everyone will be happy with the results.

If it isn't as great as I'd hoped, I shall just remember that 5 years ago, I was living in a caravan with NO hot water at all, half-way up a mountain, in the middle of winter. It's amazing what you can put up with when there's no alternative...
