More people make for a better forum,... so ignoring the pending exposure we'll get at the Retro Cars Show,.. anyone got any ideas? I guess web based people are the best target.
Maybe contact people that run website directly,.. car clubs etc.

Maybe we could get a better advert / feature in a magazine......

Problem with that is the main website needs to be up to scratch and beyond the calendar (thank you), its not really,.. not enough articles and I'm still waiting till there are more photos to put the gallery live again. So really we're only pushing the forum at the moment, but it would appear that most magazines want a website to push. Although Practical classics did the forum via the address for the website ,.. I was thinking also that people already online would be more likely to regularly use the forum. I don't really want to go around spamming other forums either, I did that for a while and although it worked out okay, I didn't feel good about it.. hmm What we need is Links on other peoples (popular) websites

We've been planning to do a feature on web-based groups/clubs for a while, if this helps. Just need to get my finger out...

See, now that's what we need - someone from a magazine to become a member and give the site a few 'free' plugs in future mag issues............

Retro Cars haven't got a forum of their own, maybe they could link to us?! All the punters with no liability!

Nope,.. we emailed Retro Cars about us,.. I spoke to Nigel at Practical Classics and we had a little review in there. Not targeted any one make only magazines. Maybe that is another avenue to try.
I'd hoped to get something (a mention at least) in Practical Performance Classics, but nothing yet,..

How about displaying the address on our cars?
|
|
... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

I kind of like the putting the address on cars thing. Only problem is, could you get someone to make up loads of stickers, and wouldnt it cost a packet to send them out to members of the site? But if it was practical, I would be happy to put the address on one of my Imps (the one that I'm making out of bits of the two I have just now, no less!)

Hi all. Links on websites really helps. It builds both our exposure to new users and we climb up the ladder of results each time someone clicks our link. I work for a very successful disco business that has a similar programme. If there's a site that we can be on, we are. Placing adverts is tough. They tend to cost loads per ad, last for only the duration of the publication, and unless they really look good, get passed by. How many ads are in the back of your favourite mag (careful!). If you're looking for something then it works, this forum is great, but no-one is necessarily looking for it. Magazine features work better. Keep plugging away! PS- I have my 4 day old son on my lap right now, another petrol head in the making.

I'm sure someone here could knock up a groovyfunky retrorides sticker, and someone could host it, and we could then print them out onto some sticky paper or something similiar. I know not everybody would be happy about doing that, but its a step in the right direction.

Wagoneer got me some quote for sticker prices,.. but can't afford it at the moment,...
Going to get a self printable thing sorted in the next day or so,.. Thinking about it the Retro Cars Show will probably pull in a fair few people,.. going to sort out some flyers to hand out.

Stickers would be a great idea! I'd be prepared to pay for one for the Golf definitely!
I'm still printing flyers from time to time, I keep a batch of them in the car and stick them under the wipers of anything I see that looks interesting and suitably retro! None of them seem to have made it on here yet but you never know!

Now if it was retro cars and campers... I do a bit of writing for one of the Motorcaravan Mags (usually featuring VW's) to fill a bit of space up for the feature writer. I could do a retro campers theme bit.
