Hi, I'm a Ford man really but i just dragged this out of a garage were it has sat for 8 years, being a Datsun after putting a battery in it it fired up straight away!! It is a one owner, 57k miles from new car and has no rot or welding! Please guide me as to what to do as i want serious power to create the ultimate sleeper! I was thinking of a hot pinto and go down the Ford route. Heres some pics of her as i found it, minus the layer of dirt, help me on wheels body and running mods, many thanks, Dave. That looks really nice, almost as if it's new! How about keeping it as it is? Would be a shame to 'banded steels, slammmmmeedddd to the deck fella and matte black paint, innit'.

Good find. Always nice to see a bit of J tin from the past that isn't going to rotland ;D
Serious power is good, but why a pinto? They're f**king boat anchors. (Nothing personal, I just don't understand the obsession with them when there's far better engines out there for less cash).
A bit of research and some CA18DET \ SR20DET age would net you more power for less moneys. Would more 'canon' that way as well, as you'd keep it in the family.
Buy a stuffed S12 \ 13 \ 14 and work from there 'praps?
Even a SR20DE has 150 brake out of the box. How much do you have to spend on a Pinto to make that power reliably?

buy my zona's lol, and a hefty drop and it would be cock on. edit. bit similar insperation.also just noticed the pinto plan. keep the motor nissan,as said above for far les cash and power straight from factory you can save your self alot of hastle with a ca18det/ca18et or even get clever with a ca18de out of a zx couple mated to an s13 box. sr20 engine are good but cost a fair bit more.even a tatty 280z and use the straight 6 lump would be an interesting swap.

Gotta agree with Dugong and everyone else for that matter. I'd go as far as to say you wouldn't even need to buy a stuffed on either - even s14 200sx models are rusting away now, so there are some cheap ones knocking about.

Lovely car mate please please don't put a kin pinto in there it will seriously ruin what is a good little car. Like Dugong says, compared to what is avaliable these days they really are boat anchors. Just do a couple of subtle reversable mods to make it your own. Personally Id drive that totally bone stock.....I love it

for that car to start up like that, to have its guts ripped out and an anvil with pistons installed instead, would be bad Car-ma Can't beleive nobody has fitted a normally aspirated Nissan engine in their old car from a J-import S14 or something, these must be a dime a dozen on the drift forums. Nice find btw. I stock parts for B310 so give me a shout if you need anything.

nice find! that looks really clean!
i'd say go with the pinto if thats what you want to do... whatever happened to the whole 'your ride, your way' thing hmmm?!!!! being that you say your a ford person means your gonna know your way around a pinto far more than you would most other things. I know I spent far more time and effort just trying to get the last CA motor I had to run properly at stock bhp, than I would have done tuning a pinto! people go on about the CA and SR stuff having reliable power straight out of the box, but they aint reliable!!
anyways, look forward to seeing what youve got planned for it...

Great car not seen one of these in a long time .Ford engine sounds like a great idea tough reliable and well proven plus common and so easy and cheap for parts . For 'tough and reliable', read 'boat anchor' 'So easy and cheap for parts', read, 'until you want to tune it.' For 'Well proven' read 'done to death; Seriously mate, it's your car so do what you want, it'd just be a shame to knacker up such a mint B310 with a clattery POS ford engine. I really, really, really don't see why people get so excited about these engines. A rotary lump would be interesting.......ermmmmm.............a 4A GE (not powerful enough?). Sack it, an Mi 16 Peugeot engine? Quite tall but light if you go for the 1905 all alloy engine and use an LDV bell housing, and unlike the majority of modern muck it actually has a properly designed cylinder head.
