I couldn;t give a curse word about football, but i got given tickets to the game tonight at a function hall, loads of us there, the atmosphere was really good, 400 people, then curse word happened! 2-1 Just got back form the pub, feeling worse for wear. First time I've watched a game all the way through

I watched the match, but I'm definitely not a football fan. If it was on when the shops were open I would have gone to the supermarket - it's always so quiet when there's a game on! From what I saw France deserved the win, although obviously I was supporting England.

Didn't see it, not a football fan really. Of course, because everyone else is watching it on telly, all the roads are empty! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ;D

Anyone else think that there is far too much emphasis on football? Put it this way, people call you a sad anorak for spending some money and a lot of time on an old motor, and yet a guy who spends hundreds of quid on a football strip he only wears to matches, gets into fights and gets stabbed over what team he likes, and behaves like a little child screaming at the TV at every goal, can be considered a regular, respectable person?!? I have nothing against people who have an interest in any sport, just the yobs and w*nkers who use it as an excuse to behave like five year olds, and then have the cheek to turn around and say that a guy who happens to have an old car or two is wasting his time, or then there's the hilarity when some idiot gets all macho and tells you that he's all manly because he wears bright nylon shorts in the street and showers wiith other guys(?!?) And why is David Beckham a pagan god, and so many of my friends have never even heard of Ari Vatenen or Jim Clark?

Didn't watch the match, not interested in footy either. I went to the cinema with friends instead, it was really empty, had the place to ourselves! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

At least your lot qualified, over here in Ireland its been civil war over Roy Keane quitting and returning to the squad. And speaking of sport last Sunday, what are Ferrari paying Barrichello not to overtake Schumi?

I'll admit to being a football fan, but I think the amount the players are paid is totally crazy. Players like Beckham are totally over-hyped and should only get a fraction of what they earn. If I take my eldest two to Bolton Wanderers, its the best part of fifty quid for an hour an a half's entertainment - ridiculous. Twenty years ago, when I was a student, entry to a football match was about the same as going to see a film. It should still be thereabouts as its supposed to be a working man's game. I guess it does keep the yobs away, though.
The other thing that gets me is if all these people with England flags are so patrotic, why do they drive Renaults, Mercs, Hyundais, etc. It's like the sticker I saw a couple of weeks ago ' Rule from London, not Brussels' on - you guessed it - a Citroen. Ironic or what? On the subject of Ari Vatanen, read his autobiography a few years ago - top man, but modest with it. Rather watch him sliding a Mk 2 Escort than Beckham any day.
