As it says a K reg red over 216 SLi Diesel was stolen off my mates drive in Somerset on Tuesday evening last week (21/7/09), the police have had no leads as to where the car is. If anyone is offered the car please let me know. I will try to update with full reg no. and pictures if possible. The car was in excellent condition for the year with no known problems or major rust areas. Please any info would be great.
Cheers
Stu.

There was a Red Metro from A&S found burnt out today, in our Force Area, but i believe it was a G Registration.
If you can pm me a mobile for your mate i can ring him tomorrow and get details of his, and can check them against the burned out one, to make sure its not his on false id!

Sorry Mark, Just spoke to my mate and he will pm you tomorrow. I have also found out that I got the wrong car. He had a Metro but the one that was stolen was a Rover 216 SLi, got the colour right and the year though. Cheers, Stu.

Update:- The car has now been found and reported to the police. I have just one question though, is it standard practice for the police to charge a recovery fee on a stolen vehicle?
Cheers,
Stu.

It depends why they have recovered it. If it was recovered because it was causing an obstruction, e.g abandoned in the middle of the road then they can charge a recovery and storage fee. If they recover it to do phorensic tests for fingerprints or to use it as evidence then they are meant to pay for the recovery and storage. They will often try to charge you anyway though.
Is it still in one piece?

The car was in 1 piece, but they broke the steering lock, nicked the stereo and cds out of the car, the car was recovered for CSI to carry out tests, but they are trying to charge my mate. Cheers, Stu.

nice one on them finding it but i'd be suprised if your mate gets away without having to pay the storage and collection fees. unless he goes through the insurance (if it wasnt third party) pathetic tho i had a bike nicked couple of years ago and found it and the scrote next day for once did the right thing as two coppers drove passed, told them i'd collect it myself to save these charges however they insisted it be collected for prints. luckily i only ended up paying the collection(£105) and not the storage but still no use as they found no prints other than the chav's that i found with it. sorry for the rant/bore sesh just a sore subject with me

No that's fine as I can appreciate the torment that goes with getting something that your hard earned cash has spent out gets stolen. Cheers, Stu. sorry for the rant/bore sesh just a sore subject with me
