Hi All,
Anyone used one of these? Which is better the bumper attachment or hub attachment? Are they easy 1 man jobs? Does anyone actually own one of these and how much do they cost and would it be easy to knock one up myself.
I need to do some welding under the wife's Minor and would rather do it standing than laying on my back all day.
All help appreciated.
Cheers,
Stu.

I don't have one, but have thought about it! I'd be inclined to go for the bumper mount as you don't need the axles fitted to roll it and I guess that's going to make life easier! Reckon making one yourself wouldn't be that hard, seen a couple made out of engine stands and a Minor isn't that heavy is it? Quick google image search for car rollover jig throws up a few...

Can't see the point of having axle ones, they're certainly very, very handy! Can you use the stand with the car complete, and how to you 'offer' the car to the stand. If you can do it with the car complete, I'm buying one!

I've never got round to making one for my own cars but they are pretty easy to do . if you make one make it with adjustable ends so it can fit a variety of cars bumper mounts or just make it with custom bumper mounts for each car .

Make sure you drain all fluids before you tip it over. You don't want oil dripping from the sump, past the piston rings and into the chamber as if enough gets in, you will hydraulic lock the engine when you come to start it again (which may cause permenent damage)

I'm just building one for my Plymouth, it seems to have taken way longer than anticipated partly due to the car being so flippin big and heavy but its a learning experience. It does a full 360° spin but is difficult to roll around on the casters , I'm just joining the ends to each other to make the whole thing stronger then it should be ok to wheel about and hopefully put on a trailer. Should be finished this weekend.

cant remember the name but there is one that can attach to bumper mounts while on the floor then you raise the car using a ratchet on the end of some threaded bar on the jigs. It will take a complete car, there are 2 or 3 different sizes, and you can buy mounts to suit each car.

I don't call that pricey, if it had been man enough to handle a ginormous yank tank I would have gladly bought it instead of wasting weeks building my own.

I know this is an old thread but I always think it's better to add to an existing one than start a duplicate..
Anyway my question is: is it viable to make a jig to tip a car (Mondeo MkIII for example) which isn't just a bare shell?
EG you want to do welding on floors, replace brake pipes, exhausts etc comfortably on cars which need to be back on road within a few days.
Am thinking something that bolts onto front and rear hub on one side and you can tip full car with engine interior etc in it.
Problems I can see are massive weight of intact car, fluids spilling etc.
Better to just crawl around underneath banging head and cursing?

I got one from here, it bolts to the bumper mounts, and they will sell you the mounts separately if you need to use it on a different vehicle. www.rolloverjigs.com/index.htmlYou just need to specify a vehicle when you order, additional mounts can be bought as & when needed

Nice link, thanks.
Are they ok for fully-loaded cars or more suitable for bare shells?

Coool. I've not clicked the link but they look expensive.
Wonder if that puts and strain on the suspension components on the opposite side...

Nice link, thanks. Are they ok for fully-loaded cars or more suitable for bare shells? literally emailed them last week asking this, i bought one of their jigs about 4 years ago. (the entry level 165 quid ones) their answer was, pushing your luck, but we sell a heavy duty jig, or one for vans...

You could always buy two engine stands and modify them -
