I'm sick of seeing people moan about this place. It's excellent!
After going back onto a few forums I used to frequent I realise how different this place is.
A mate of mine cut a couple of coils out of the springs to lower his 106, and the ensuing storm of abuse (few reasoned arguments, just "you are a cock" etc!) from people was just hilarious - From people who have no real idea what they are talking about, one of which took a 2 page thread and a few days to remove a bolt on wing from a 106.
Apparently my mates car is also an "EPIC FAIL" because it's lower than 30mm from stock.
I've just been on the Lupo forum, which is 50% all the exact same car, and 25% morons. One person posted a thread last night at 6pm asking for some advice on a gear box (without giving any details of what car it was even out of!), then when there was no reply by 8am this morning, posted up a sarcastic "Thanks for the help... not!".
While I don't (yet) have a retro car (Anyone want a nice Lupo?), I feel welcomed in this place which is full of people with tonnes of knowledge, skill and best of all open minds. People on here are genuine mechanics/engineers who aren't afraid to "have a go" and try something they may have not seen done before.
I'd like to say a massive thanks to bstardchild, oldbus, rmad, Skoda Norman, DarrenW and especially HoTWire for keeping this place ticking over, and to all the posters who get their hands dirty then spend the time taking photos and writing it up for me to read!
Thanks, and here's some cake:
