For sale today is this little 325i that I've been using as a run-around whilst waiting to get my P6 MOT'd. It's a great little piece of machinery and drives very well but the truth is it's just not needed any more (as I was worried I was going to end up without anything to drive and obviously need a car), so consequently it's for sale.
The car's done a genuine 87,557 miles with plenty of history to validate that (there's about 15 old MOTs with it) and has had 6 previous keepers. It's got a current MOT with no advisories until February next year and is taxed until the end of the month.
It's pretty well kitted out - it's got central locking, four electric windows, an electric tilt'n'slide sunroof (that works flawlessly), front and rear fogs, electric mirrors, front headlamp wash/wipe, a 13-button onboard computer, a nice Sony headunit and four speakers, working electric aerial, full blue BMW leather and factory AC (but this does need regassing - compressor and electronics working just fine, however). The original BMW magnetic keys and immobilser are also included but it's been disabled for safety's sake as they are known to be a little bit twitchy at the best of times - and I'd rather someone didn't accidentally immobilise it - permanantly!
Externally the car is in presentable condition in 'cirrusblau' (sky blue, then!) metallic - but there is some minor rust to the arches and a few other minor blemishes in line with age - stuff which could be very easily rectified over the course of a lazy weekend. There are also a few pin dents but at the end of the day, it has not done badly for a 21 year old BMW, and still cleans up very nicely. The typical rot-spot of the front scuttle is in good shape with only one minor bubble. All the alloys are good and all four tires have plenty of tread.
Internally the car is in really good condition - and the full factory leather is in great shape, with negligible wear (even to the driver's bolster). It is soft, comfortable and supple and is a snug place to be sat when hammering down the motorway. The leather's a bit dirty in the pictures as it's been very dusty here recently! The car has original BMW wool type overmats fitted too, which have some wear but are perfectly usable. All interior electronics work without fault (including the often-failed sunroof) and as mentioned a good Sony CD player is fitted which drives four speakers. There is a full compliment of rear seatbelts and the original jack, wheel braces and wheel wrench are present. The BMW toolkit is mostly complete too. All the column stalks have a nice tactile feel to them and there are no rattles, creaks or groans from the interior at all - the whole car is very well put together.
On the road the E30 drives superbly - the engine is extremely lively, as you'd expect with 170BHP and a relatively light shell, and the automatic gearbox is suprisingly enthusiastic, holding onto the gears through the revs and really letting the E30 get a move on - and, as a bonus, it makes the car extremely relaxing to drive in heavy traffic or around town. It starts easily hot or cold, doesn't leak or smoke, uses no fluids, and everything works as BMW intended. The only criticism I could levy against it is that there's a little flutter of a leak from the exhaust system somewhere - but nothing serious.
The car has power steering, and all-round disc brakes which haul the BMW to a stop without issue and there's no odd wondering or judder - and all the suspension is in good order, with no clunks or rattles over bumps. Both rear shocks and suspension mounts were replaced last year in May. An aftermarket backbox is fitted which makes the 2.5 quite vocal, especially once the revs get past 3500RPM.
The whole car feels very taught and solid, just like a good E30 should, and it is really quite enjoyable to drive, regardless of whether you're blatting down those country lanes or ambling along at motorway speeds on the A1 - especially when you've the windows down, the sunroof back and the 6 pot snarling along!
The car has been very well looked after on the whole - with it having been maintained mainly by independant garages (although there are a few BMW dealer stamps in the book) on a regular basis. The cambelt, tensioner and valve clearances were done in April '09 at 76,795 (with the car having been further serviced since) and the car also had a full service and front pads at 79,643 - and it also benefits from a recent oil and filter change. The trans fluid is nice and pink and all the other fluids are clear and at the correct level.
All the original binders, manuals and owner's books are supplied - as are the original dealer's tax disc holder, model brochure and business cards (the number plates are still the original dealer ones too). Also included with the car are a few random spares like a new fuel fuel filter and a complete unused Halfords bulb kit, just in case.
Overall this is a very usable example of an E30, with some quite rare factory options, all the toys and plenty of power. It runs, drives, steers, stops and rides brilliantly and will only need minor tidying to turn it into an excellent example. This would make a great daily driver for someone!
Pictures (apologies for the relatively poor quality of some of them, getting a bit dark here!):
If you've any questions or want to see any more pictures, please feel free to ask. Viewings and test drives are welcome and the car's located just outside Milton Keynes, in Bedfordshire - and collection from a local train station is possible if needed
