I have posted before….. I have a couple of ATF lanes. The trouble is getting ministry testers, they are in short supply. However this is good news for you as the lanes are all under pressure to have 100 percent utilisation. If you slip on this you can lose testing days and it’s difficult to get them back. Speak to a few local test stations about them squeezing you in if they get a no show….. you will have to leave your truck with them in a test ready state. No shows are also quite common as a haulier cannot afford to have a fail on their record. Due to the current parts supply issues etc they sometimes miss a test rather than risk a fail. You should be ok I think for the time scale you are after…
I use a local(ish) heavy vehicle recovery and truck maintenance company to do the MOTs. They know the Goddess and better still the testers but as you know it all takes time. I have a few jobs to do on it including a new wiring harness for the side marker lights and new marker lights and brackets since the sheep destroyed the last lot. That's going to stretch me with all I've got going on. Dangerous has got to come over so we can reset the rear brakes and unstick the brake shoes. Even with no handbrake left on they always stick over the winter off-season. Dangerous' oppo Mike just went down with Covid so I would not see him for a week because he can't leave the workshop without cover. I pencilled all that in for 2 weeks and then that leaves just over a week for all the stuff for the test. Too close for comfort for me and for what, four hours at Goodwood? Maybe next year.
Wow!! Thanks to the very unkind intervention of a bad dose of covid these last couple of weeks I have had the pleasure of reading your story of big red from beginning to end. Absolutely loved every minute of it and a true testament to the stubbornness of a classic vehicle owner, it doesn’t matter if it’s a bike or a GG the effect is the same!
Now I need a classic transporter in my life for my ‘55 Magnette!
Give it a few years and our old friend 'Arfur Itis will stop me from climbing into the cab and you can then swap many beer tokens for the old girl. I hope by then to have bagged the front so I can go Stanceworks meets and appal them with my 'lowrider'
