Already tried setting it up with coloutune plugs? Otherwise it might be a leaking seal or dirty jet (Or something similiar, try ultrasoon cleaning) When it goes it absolutly sounds terrific!
I would go for a BMW K(100/1100) injection setup complete with loom, might be a cheap solution. It is untried, but the engine specs are pretty similiar. Still you have a screamer.
Megasquirt isn't expensive so that would be the solution if the ECU wouldn't work with the engine.
So screamer FTW!

Thanks for the comments chaps. I have decided that I need to get rid of the carbs so that I can afford to drive it. Iam insuring my driftcar this week so that I have time to pop the micra back onto injection. Iam tempted to turbocharge it though because I still think that injection and boost will still get me decent mpg. When I say screamer pipe, iam talking about external wastegate vented to atmosphere Like this Excuse the poor driving, bad day and tyres down to the metal lol

I payed to have it setup on the rolling road and they made an improvement but still not right. It does sound great when its going I have a megasquirt already, but I tried to fit it to my suzuki swift engined mini and couldn't get it to work properly. I gave up on the whole car in the end and now its sat rotting away. Iam getting the standard injection setup and fitting that for the next few months, eventually I will get a nistune ecu and get it fitted and mapped by greg at protuner. He is doing my 200sx next month. Ill most probably go down the turbo route because I have almost everything I need/want.

i cant work out whats wrong with my pics. i copied and pasted my whole posts from another forum, same as i always do and they're not working. i looked at previous posts and the pics are still they're and posted in the same format :S

Going by the one previous pic I just looked at you're using picasa? I've found it sometimes gives https, delete the s so it is just http and it normally works again.

so here is a run down on what i havbe done in the last week that i have been working on the car again. I went to the scrap yard and bought. (my engine is a cg13de (1275cc)) cga13 inlet manifold (cga is later coilpack engine and 1350cc) cga13 fuel rail cg13 dizzy and coil (all one unit) cg10 wiring loom and ecu (cg10 is 1000cc but more aggressive mapping) cg13 sensors ect cg13 tb and maf setup (all one unit) ga16 airbox (ga is almera engine) cga13 valves (2mm longer stems for high lift cams) qg18de injectors (211cc from a nissan serena) also i have the kent cams and hi compression pistons as you can see in the above pics i have made an adaptor plate to fix the sr20 throttle body onto the cga inlet manifold. i then machined the cg13 throttle body/afm setup until i was left with just the afm. then i araldited them together. i need a more suitable fixing solution for long term usage.
