Hi all, I am up for using abbreviations, but not too keen on text speak, maybe because this is I don't understand what most of it means. Old age creeping in early, maybe, or just rubbish at this type of stuff. I love the website but how about a thread/sticky, somewhere on the site so people like me can get to understand what all the abbreviations/text speak mean. I know some of them like WHY? BTW, etc, but a lot of threads are using FTW and various others, if this could be implemeted for the thick and out of touch people like myself this would be great. If this is not feasible I will just make my own mind up what they mean ;D Cheers, Stu.

To be fair text speak is, and always has been unwelcome on RR. In fact I think it's in the Modus Operandi. There was a thread on abbreviations and their definitions but I don't know where it is. You could always Google anything like that... that's what I tend to do.

There's a difference between text speak and forum abreviatios though...
For example, FTW means For The Win, and is forumspeak. IMHO is In My Humble Oppinion, again forum speak.
Txt spks sumtin difrnt n i cnt fkin stand it... Which means:
Text speak is something completely different, and I can't effin' stand it. I don't mind forum speak, I use it myself sometimes, but people who type in text speak, be it in email, on forums or in text messages should have their fingers broken, IMHO LOL! (that's "Laugh Out Loud")

(that's "Laugh Out Loud") That is the exact problem, the abbreviations can have double meanings e.g. LOL laugh out loud, Lots of Love. IMHO I always thought the "H" stood for "Honest". ;D There's me thinking that people writing in text speak only wrote like that as they don't know how to spell Thank for all the help I am obviously way off the mark and need to get " hip and down on the street" PMSL. Cheers, Stu.
