Yeah looms is one of the last few scrappies round here - i had a good mooch around that saab when i was there a couple of weeks ago. It does seem to be getting a bit slow though - they don't turn over as many cars as they used to (or they just crush new stuff straight away) because you can go 2 or 3 wkends in a row and see the same cars.

Looms is awesome. Always good to have a nosey around there! I think they hang onto rare / interesting stuff until they're totally stripped. There was (is?) a Wolesley 1500 in there which was a sad sight, but they leave them until all useable parts have been taken. I dare say they frag 90's bilge a lot sooner than that.

No sign of a Wolesley in there, must have gone,Ok Nov 4th is a bit premature for Chrimble shopping I admit but it was probably a subconscious excuse to go to Looms in the first place!!

That Jag is a Daimler.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

Well the bootlid is Daimler... its that much of a bitsa, only the chassis number will say for sure. I feel sorry for it having sent one much the same to the scrappy a few weeks back so my series 1 could stay alive.

That is a good breakers yard but its not the only roamer in the area.We only go to breakers you can walk round and we visit 2 or 3 in a day.

Looms is one of the last good scrappies. They will sell complete cars too. A mate got an FD Victor out of there a few years ago. We were trying to get someone to save a very tidy '84 Nissan Stanza out of there recently and they were still playing ball then. And prices are not silly. They know what it will weigh for so don't expect to drag that Carlton out for £50 but they are more sensible about this than most yards are.
Podders is usually worth a trip too.

Used to be brilliant. Once went in and saw a HB Viva with GT bonnet & grill that had just come in, got the grill & bonnet for about £30! Alistairk, was the FD a brown 1600 base model by any chance?

Deatons at Staveley near Chesterfield is pretty good. He's usually got some old stuff in.... not including the tanks, the Green Goddess, or the traction engine.

I very nearly saved a mk4 2dr non sunroof escort from there last year,it was a full complete car with zero rust so i went and asked if i could buy it,thet said some old timer had drove it in cus he was givin up driving!£200 was the price (if it'd not been marked as scrap, which it hadnt) so we set about finding the keys and logbook in the office,by the time we'd got the keys and gone back to get it moved someone had ripped the door cards in half to get to the door locks, had some interior bits and had bits and pieces from under the engine so they decided thet couldnt sell it me,i was proper gutted!
