Wow, thanks for all the help guys Looking around for wheels now, and either go with a cheap set of peg alloys off a 306 or summit, as a lot of these with tires on, or a decent set of steels....but then gotta pay more and get tires fitted.....I'm on a budget people!!! Been on ebay and seen a few steels i like, the rally style stand out to me...... But what the hell are all the numbers about that people quote on the wheels, i guess its to do with tire fitments but am a bit of a novice to say the least for example...... cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260702399632&_trksid=p2761.l1259what does the 195-60-15 refer to......it that radius, width and depth of tire required? as those appear to be 15" and could be perfect fit..... Help please, as you've been so good already! Morns

195 refers to tread width in mm, 60 refers to the aspect ratio (the depth of sidewall in relation to width...in this case 60%) and 15" wheel diameter. These are the Xantia steels, on my old Xantia (funnily enough): Just like the stock rims, only 15" diameter and with a bit more dish. Most Xantias have 15" steels on, so finding a half-decent set with rubber (195/60x15 as standard in most cases) in your local scrappy shouldn't be too difficult or costly. A good clean up and repaint in the hue of your choice and you're good to go.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Finally a little progress! I'm not a mechanic, so little thing like changing bulbs and fixing a new exhaust give me great warm feelings! I have tidied up the interior a bit, the door cards were on thery way out so added some artwork, easy job, just took a while..... And now after a long hike of trying to get some wheels, I have nice new (to me) set of 205 GTI alloys (thanks to loads of helpful advice on here from various members) Time to get my steels banded......? So the van now looks like this...... Bit smarter eh....? Got trim on order, which I'm going to paint red, along with the front and rear bumpers to try and tie it all together a bit more... but couldn't help myself but do another photo-shop......but this time a bit more realistic...... And some sign writing maybe..... Another update in a few months when I get it lowered with the help of my brother when he return from the Falklands...... slow progress but I'm enjoying the tinkering! I know its not going to win any awards, and that I am limited to what I can personally do, but i can really appreciate all the hard work that so many member on here seem to put into endless projects........keep up the good work and hope a few people like what I'm doing!

Great vans these! I can't help thinking it looks sooooo much better with black bumpers. I think colour coded will look out of place...

Hummm, its a point i have been thinking on quite a lot recently.....
On the one hand it does break up the van a bit, but on the other hand, it will be more unique with red coded trim, although matching the fade might be a pain in the ass.....hummmmm
I have ordered some paint, as have a spare set of trims, so might paint the broken ones first, see how they come out and what they look like and then go from there...... certainly needs the rear end lowered so that it looks level, as its heavy load days are long gone....
Great van tho, i really am getting very attached to it!

I like the faded paint, not sure i can be bothered to t-cut the entire thing, will take weeks!....... especially with the planned royal fail graphics......It might get a DIY black paint job in the summer anyway, not quite rat look but certainly not showroom finish! Cheap and cheerful all the way......its only for knocking around in anyways!!
That "Blingo" is nuts, I'm going to lower it but not go as far as that thing.......i like it tho!
Also seen a really nice one knocking around Marlow area, but didnt take a blimmin picture did I!!!
Van me up!

IMO - Keep as is colour wise (Bumper and all) - Postman Rat is amazing and should be kept, signwritten in the manner of the royal mail - Enjoy.....
Not normally my cup of tea, but this thread is a good one.

I did mean Marlow, as in in Buckinghamshire, i don't live there but was visiting the in laws.....i think when megzy said "old marlow" i believe he was talking about the same place.......
Going to look into sign writing options now, see if i can get a good quote for 2 x royal fail logos and some stripes.....tho probably do the stripes myself, in keeping with the current paint job!
I'm actually moving to Cambridgeshire next week so meet-ups around there would be of intrest to me!!!! (Lincoln isnt too far.....my brother lives there and about 1.5hours from where i will be living down the A1!)
