Welcome to the forum, good little cars these fiats. Here's a pic of our little fiat By the way does your fiat suffer from a leaky rocker gasket.

it has leaked in the past, if I need to open the top of the engine for any reason then the gaskets are that cheap that I would just pick a new one up Think during my ownership it has had all the usual things go wrong, head gasket, clutch cable, clutch, lower rear engine/gb mount, rear bushes, - it all sounds a lot but the parts for these cost peanuts and they are very very easy to repair, I have had some cracking cars in the past but this is my fav, do about 12,000 miles a year in it and a lot of that is motorway It currently need the front/passenger side engine mount looking at as there is a lot of play in it but curse word weather=it can wait!! didnt think this car would be suitable for retro rides, but I gave it a shot anyway

Broom Yellow, such a modest colour Nice, had a '96 S which got scrapped due to rot and the fact everything was beginning to fall off it (did 155,000 miles) and the electrics were becoming more of a problem for my old dear. Original clutch when it went to the scrappers, think that's only the case because it didn't make enough power to wear the clutch out Great fun, even more so on wide tyres with some decent springs and shocks. Won't win anything in a straight line but you can surprise a bunch of people on the B-roads. Stood up well to a lot of abuse that was thrown at it and only broke down a few times, but never in a particularly spectacular fashion. Enjoy it. Nice to see one being taken care of. --Phil

I love these, got given a standard 900cc and did 40k miles in it, replaced the rad, freed of the handbrake linkage yearly, it was cheap to run, and surprisingly comfortable, the speedo used to tick annoyingly, it was in the familly from new untill it was sent to the scrappy, my brother bought it, then it got passed around, six of us used it in total, he should have bought the sporting. ;D

Welcome to the forum, good little cars these fiats. Here's a pic of our little fiat By the way does your fiat suffer from a leaky rocker gasket. just noticed your chequered roof, nice I have been mulling over for maybe 6 months or so now, whether to get mine done, bigger squares though, and maybe traditional black and white, yours looks good as it has no sunroof, mine has one [ has the interior cover fitted all the time, and it never gets opened] so would have the signwriter go right over it although it would spoil the look somewhat I love this car, people who have never had one take the curse word a bit [ not helped by "the inbetweeners"] people that have been in it praise it, its has amazing mpg, cheap tax, and my latest insurance quote to start in january is £170, and even that has a £30 cashback after 3 months ££££ker-ching!!!!

How do you find the ride with the new springs fitted to fiat? Does the ride suffer from fitting them?

How do you find the ride with the new springs fitted to fiat? Does the ride suffer from fitting them? the ride felt quite hard - a little bit harder than the standard ones, I think with poly bushes it would be ace, this is what i aim to do during 2011, personally I would not mind if it was a harder ride, I like to feel the road under my wheels the springs were from a company called fastfiat.com, think they were only about £55 but that was about 3 years ago, not sure if they are still trading but although the springs didnt have a make on them, I think they are the same as the Gmax ones that are available on ebay etc

Sadly, I had a couple of sets of Gmax springs for mine crack, all at the point the temper changed. Just watch the rears.

but the mrs hated it. cheers chris. so did mine, but she loves it now, she wont drive it though cos she says the pedals are too close together/small I had to downsize cars in 2006, I had a sierra 2.0dohc sapphire, was a great car and comfy and like a limo compared with the cinq , I had liked the cinq ever since they came out and there was a top gear feature of it against the classic mini, I already had a penchant for mini's having owned a few in my early years of motoring, in many ways it drives like a classic mini, but with the extra gear, elec windows and central locking/immobiliser and a proper heater, I had to have it when the search for a small car was on, and it HAD to be yellow, no other colour was an option!! although I did nearly sway to getting a ford ka, but really glad i didnt.
