The Hillman New Minx/Hunter/Sunbeam Arrow in saloon form is pretty much my dream car the proportions are just so right, there is something very Cortina, Datsun 510, Llada niva about them I think it is Seth on here with the olive coloured estate..with the single round headlamp grille.. that face on a saloon. perfect I agree with you 100% the round light "Hillman Minx" is he perfect front-end graphic for the car! And YES! Finally somebody agrees with me on the proportion of he Arrow Series! ;D

Some beautiful stuff in here! Does anyone now if anything was actually built at Rootes in Maidstone, or was it always just a retail and servicing outlet?

Still building trucks and buses at Maidstone in the 1950s,not sure about after that. Went past Ryton on Dunsmore this afternoon and that is a really sad sight now! Wiki Says= Rootes' acquisitions included the Humber Car Company. They produced the Humber Armoured Car used during World War II. Originally founded in Hawkhurst, Kent in 1913 by William Rootes as a car sales company. The firm moved to Maidstone by the First World War, and during the war was involved in the repair of aero engines. By 1924 Rootes was the largest truck and car distributor in the United Kingdom.[1] Rootes grew and took over other companies, and became one of the earliest advocates of the policy of "badge engineering". Among take-overs were Hillman, Humber and Commer in 1929; Clement, Talbot and Sunbeam in 1935,[1] British Light Steel Pressings (1937) and Thrupp & Maberly (1939). Hillman was intended to be the basic brand, Singer slightly more upmarket, Sunbeam was the sports brand, while Humber made luxury models. Commer and Karrier were the commercial vehicle brands, with Commer manufacturing light vans with the Karrier badge appearing on heavy vans and light duty trucks (mainly for municipal use). ;D

I like them too whit a thin white wall and over riders, but sometimes wouldn't mind dropping mine on some nice wheels, know of a set of 13x8 slots which were on a cortina estate beforehand and since the hunter's got Ford pcd they should fit.

This thread has reminded me of my old art teacher's car. It was an Arrow series, I *think* it was a Sceptre. Metallic turquoise, black vinyl roof BUT with the cover art design from Jeff Wayne's 'War Of The Worlds' airbrushed on the flanks: I last saw it in 1983, in Walthamstow. Anyone remember it?
