Hi this is my girlfriends Mk3 Golf, she's had it 3 years and its never let her down in that time. While far from mint its a very presentable car and we're only selling it because she fancied a change and something newer (fair enough after 3 years I think, my cars are lucky if I keep them a year.)
The car is the Match special edition, don't know why they call it special edition because its as basic as they come. No EW C/L etc, although this is an upside to me as it means there is nothing to go wrong which these things invariably do on cars of this age. The only mod cons it does benifit from is power steering and drivers airbag.
Its got a full MOT and tax till end of Feb so its ready to drive away. For the last MOT it needed brake pipes and a little welding. Prior to this it had a cam belt as soon as we got it (89,000 on the clock and 3 years ago), new shocks and springs all round for the previous MOT and rear beam bushes for the one before that. I've serviced the car myself and like I say its been completely reliable.
Its got a few dents and scrapes consistant with a 15 year old car. Rust wise there are a couple of tiny tiny scabs (you really are hard pushed to notice them) and a larger one on the trailing edge of drivers front wing this is the only one which has broken the paint. The area where it is small and separated from the rest of the wing by black trim so you could tidy it up, treat it and rattle can it very easily without needing to worry about a 100% colour match. I'd do it myself but just don't have the time, my own projects require what little of that I have. One of the dummy fog lights on the front has made a bid for freedom (and succeeded) I'll try and source another one, they're regularly on ebay for peanuts I've been meaning to get one for yonks.
She'll be sad to see it go as its served her well and has provided cheap as chips motoring for 3 years. It'd make an excellent first car as its got black plastic bumpers and trim all round for any small mishaps which may occur and the airbag plus typical vw solidness in the event of a bigger one also the insurance is about as cheap as it comes. Being a 1.4 its in the cheap tax bracket as well. Would also make a good winter hack.
All in all a cheap to buy, cheap to run, taxed and tested, reliable, presentable runaround. If you need any further info or pics either send a PM or give me a buzz.
