Firstly apologies for the 'not so retro' nature of this thread, mods feel free to delete if this doesn't fit with the Modus Operandi.
Right I know there's a few Cinq owners on here so I thought I'd ask, I've got a '97 Fiat Cinq Sporting. She's performed well since I brought her back in September, until this evening. Just pulled into my road and the engine cut out/stopped, I tried starting it whilst coasting along (clutch disengaged) but it wasn't having any of it. I managed to coast back the my house, my first thought was the cam belt had snapped. I've pulled the cover back and the cam belt is intact, I tried turning it over but its not firing. It's getting fuel through, the pump can be heard when the key is turned and fuel can be smelt in the engine bay (not massively but I know fuel is there). I'm not sure if it's just me but when the engine is being turned over the 'sound' of the engine seems different, more like a whizzing sound(?) Any idea what could be the problem? I'm used to using old aircooled VW's so I'm not that hot on the more modern stuff Could it be ignition pack has packed up or something more sinister?
Any help, pointers, things to try would be a help. I've tried using the master key and the key that my other half uses, also reset the fuel cut off switch under the dash just incase that had been tripped. No joy.
