What should I do? If I had the choice I would have kept the bike , I sold it because I was and still am skint! The message is below. I was tracking the delivery and it got bumped back to the warehouse 3 times. And then he called ups for a change of delivery address. Its either got broken in transit (but that doesnt explain the supposedly broken headset, bb and SA 3 speed that worked perfectly) Or hes trying to pull a fast one. Ive had a similar problem quite a while back where ebay just refunded the guy for a wheel that he claimed was broken. (not when I sent it) And I never recieved it back. I cant afford ebay taking funds out of my account atm! Any help / advice or anything greatly recieved.. Oh and the item sold on ebay for £85 plus postage I'm afraid your bicycle was not at all as advertised. The crank is severely bent, and the hub gears, headset and bottom bracket are all in a serious state of disrepair. This item was falsely advertised, and I am none too pleased. Rather than give negative feedback and contacting trading standards, id rather give you a chance to rectify this by refunding some of the price paid. £40 would not be too much too ask, as a bicycle of this quality and in unrideable condition is not worth anywhere near the remaining amount. please refund via paypal.

The problem with that is. I don't want it back... He IMHO has left it too long to now say its broken, Theres nothing to say he hasnt broken it and hes trying to just get his dosh back. I don't want then to be stuck with a broken bike. And out of pocket for the pleasure.

Are you a buisness seller on ebay? Got a contact number for him? Nope. Ive got a buisness paypal account but thats because I was selling alot on forums last year. Ebay is just normal. I have probably got a contact number somewhere.... Request pictures of the damage? How long is the timescale between deilvery and him sending you a message? and who was it sent through? I will be asking for damage pics. I phoned ebay today but they didnt realy say anything... It was a week between them signing for it. And him getting in contact. What makes me know its bull, Is him saying the bb and headset were buggered. That bike had hardly any use. And there was no play in anything. And it was allways kept oiled. Ill accept that a crank could get bent in transit. But hes accusing me of sending it damaged. Not it being damaged in transit..... It went thru UPS

Find his number and call him. State you'll be needing photos of the damage and point out its took a week for him to email you.

I think i will. I don't want to be calling up and getting arsey with the guy , As it all might blow over... But my first port of call this morning was texting my dad and asking what he thought (hes a courior) and he reakons the guy shouldnt have signed without checking. He was allowed and possibly asked if he would like to open the box and check contents.. But obviously didnt.
Also hes pretty sure that as an individual, Complaining to trading standards about me is a load of curse word?

If you advertised it correctly, tell him so. If he leaves false negative feedback, report him.

Trading standards wont want to know. As with most things and the way the worlds is going, he's just found some curse word on the 'net to try and chuck at you.

why does he want half the money back if its in such a bad state? i would personally want all of it back and you can keep the bike so that seems a bit sus....i have seen this a few times, like all the other guys said either ask for pics of the damage or just say send it back and upon your recipt of the bike you will refund him...if its in a good conditon which i expect it is he wont want to send it back and if he does and its fine then report to ebay with DATED photos upon recipt and a copy of that email...

Yeah i guess..... Only problem with that is finding the money atm... Right after crimbo. And tax due on the carlton And if i get it back. And it is damaged. I'm stuck with a broken bike. No money and it was effectively loaned to some loser in london to break it for me. Think this is it for me selling on ebay... Ive had a sorta lucky run up till now... don't want to keep on worrying about this sort of curse word

Where is he? I'm sure if he is close by here I could go and look at the supposed damage and see whats what, if it is damaged then it must be the courier, if not then he is being a twunt and you can tell him to wind his neck in

What a chancer, i'd tell him to do one. He's very quick to ask for some money back and has already decided how much he wants! I reckon he's trying his luck. I reckon if the bike really was KO'd, and he was genuinely dissatisfied he would have said so and sent you some pics to show he was genuine. As it is he's just said 'oh its no good, send me £40'.... unconvincing. Give him the big FO.

As it is he's just said 'oh its no good, send me £40'.... unconvincing. Give him the big FO. That's pretty much my take on it, I've had similar issues where something has arrived 'damaged'. I've always asked for a photo of the damage & get the usual excuses of 'my camera hasn't got batteries', the wife dropped it, the dog ate it etc.....You had a photo of the goods in he listing so it's only fair that you see a photo of the 'damage'. The threat of involving trading standards seems like a idle threat to me, they wouldn't bother & would tell him to take it up with yourself & eBay. The sale of 'used' goods is basically 'used' so not new, your listing sounded clear enough with regards to condition & the invite for someone to view would show that you had nothing to hide (yeah, viewing welcome, then you can see the fugged hub : . Sounds like he's pulling a fast one dude, I've only ever refunded someone once which was for an ornament that I sold for my mum. It was wrapped within an inch of it's life with bubble wrap & arrived (supposidly) with some slight damage. The buyer emaile dme, I asked for a photo, the buyer sent it & the damage was obvious. I offered a partial refund as the damage had happened during postage which the buyer was happy with as he still wanted it. There's alot of 'chancers' on there which is making it unpleasant to sell & buy on, ask for the photo's & see what he comes back with. At least you can compare the condition on the photo's on the listing to the one's he/she sends to you. If it's any consolation I've brought stuff from you Dan & had no issues, great member of RR.

If it is damaged, it was damaged in transit and he needs to take it up with the shipping company, not you. You took pictures of the bike before you sent it and it clearly wasn't shafted.
I actually lolled when I read his threat of taking a private ebay seller to trading standards. When I worked at Halfords I got chancers like this at least once a week threatening to contact trading standards. Not one of them bothered, its 100% an idle threat and I had to try my hardest not to roll my eyes at whatever moron over the counter was trying to get a refund on a bike (that they had clearly damaged through neglect or misuse) when they used the trading standards line. It was up there with "He was Just Riding Along and the back wheel bearings collapsed and both the pedals snapped off" and the "He only uses it for his paper round" when describing a £90 BMX with a pair of pegs on the left hand side that are worn halfway through from grinding....
Tell him to send the pictures of the damage to parcelfarce or whoever shipped it and to not contact you anymore. Save all the correspondence though, because ebay+paypal will more than likely want to side with the buyer even if he emails saying "NO M8 NOT KEEN ON DA COLOUR CAN U SEND US A FULL REFUND IT LOOKED A BIT DARKER IN DA PICS"
