Looks like my idea of fun. Quite enjoy digging. Used to spend most winters doing it to make trails for summer. Can't do it anymore though, blah.

That looks like back breaking work, not my idea of fun at all You are right Tony, I am aching all over. Just got to focus on new big shed whilst I'm digging Looks like my idea of fun. Quite enjoy digging. Come on down ;D Can't do it anymore though, blah. Oh bother! I got into the shed and welded my bit on and fettled it up a bit. I didn't weld the left hand side of it because I will be replacing the metal there next. More digging tomorrow

when are you tackling the kidney bowls Tea? I'm starting at the front and working back, will get to the kidney in due course. I did all the n/s sill, Kidney & 'B' post back in '06, so only the driver's side to do this time.

Managed to sneak an hour int the shed tonight, more work on the inner wing. cut a big lump out this was the horrible old repair that came out started making the new bit I have decided that it will be much easier to make the ribs separately and add them after. Sounds good in theory

This might sound like a daft question but what do you find is the best way for cutting out repair panels?

had a couple of hours tonight did a bit of trimming up on my piece and trial fitting. It is not a million miles away now. then I made a new ribbed bit, then I made another, then another. Made six in the end and I didn't like any of them Oh well, I'll try again next time.

I have some old gilbows like these but 30 years older I also have some aviation shears too. 20g steel is quite thin stuff, quite easy to cut. Thicker stuff I would probably use grinder and 1mm slitting discs.

Right, had another two attempts at making that rib tonight. Finally I told myself not to be so anal about it. The whole thing is going to get painted with stonechip and then covered by the outer wing, does it really matter if I have left a couple of hammer marks in the metal? So, I stuck it on. Little victories, as Fletch used to say ;D
