I had some good times in an E28, kind of done them now but each time I see stuff like this posted up it gets my pangs going again. Nice attention to detail I am a huge fan of attention to detail too, i will be reapplying the stonechip on innerwing and painting it body colour.

It is if you don't want a 518 or want to spend less than £2k. I found it difficult because i wanted a genuine car rather than one that had been welded or painted before. p.s it's paul from troon that bought the bumper on bmw5!

This is going to be lovely when finished, seems to be in good hands. I hope so, i'm basically aiming for a clean car with just a drop and some bbs. Real time and money will go into making it as factory fresh as possible. Speaking of hands i managed to break mine at the weekend so will need to take a break from the E28 for a couple of weeks.

Not really, unless you're buying an enthusiast owned car. The one in my sig was/is super super clean, lowish miles, and cost me nothing like £2grand - I'm selling it for £800/offers and not losing money even if I let it go a bit cheaper. I've seen plenty of others at the same price all the way up to a 528 - not come across any non-rusty 535s under £2k but that's no surprise!

Well another update here, just a quick update but a great big job! RUST. BMW underseal is sooooo thick it hides a lot! I knew about the small hole where the mudflap fits too but after digging around in the same area i found more rust. Wee easy one but then i found: Can see a small hole beside the jacking point and the sill has a long split too. Not impressed, that winter has been really hard on the old girl. Other side is solid thank god. So big cheers to Glenn (useless inc) who had a gander at the rust and is gonna have a bash at sorting it out for me tomorrow. Broke my hand a few weeks back which was healing nicely, untill the bonnet decide to slam shut on it as i was cleaning the inner wing up, broken again. This car really fecking hates me! But i love it so it's stuck with me. Needing a small cheering up i bolted on a bbs today just for the hell of it: More updates after some welding.

Yeah it's very common, usually caused by someone at some point in history been careless when jacking it up. We've done a temp patch repair on the sill section but fully removed and repaired the jacking point floor section.

At least we chopped all the grot out before we welded in the new patches. The car is really rust free given the state my e28 got itself into and it was the same age. It wouldn't take much to fix it properly it's just time, weather and weld sparks in the ear hole counted against us. I was going to give you a buzz about getting the Rover into the garage tomorrow but I went down on the off chance tonight and one of the guys down there waved me in.

Not a great deal happening but an update on the wheel situation. I have a set of 16" BBS wheels i was refurbing for the car but really wanted a set of dished split rims. A set of RS's would have been first choice but wallet says no. Decided to try get something with a classic look but not something that has been seen on countless BMWs before. Came across these: Stern 3 piece splits in 17" flavour, 7" up front and 8" out back. In R33 skyline fitment with decent adapter friendly offsets. They are in need of a rebuild which suits me perfect. Previous owner had the front of them blasted unfortunately. Makes polishing take that bit longer. They now all look like this: ;D FSCFO! I'd like to use the wider rears on the front and rebuild the fronts with wider lips to put on the back. Contacting Image about having some custom lips made up so will see what figures they get back to me with. Barrels powder coated, lips polished and faces painted. Just can't decide on colour yet!
