Mini, err mini update, nothing really to note Went to Newark autojumble to buy whatever we could for kart based shenanigans. I came back with nothing. Ian on the otherhand came back with a fresh idea for his new kart and the bits needed to make it. This means he's now busy CADding up his own creation to bother with lil old me. I needed to fag packet design what I was after for him to convert into something usable anyways, so I used Paint Roughly showing the side profile of my chassis. The rear end is now 200x6mm plate, this holds the axle, the rear bodywork and comes forward enough to pick up the rear engine mount The 30x20mm box then surrounds the engine, with more box added under the main rails to hold the bottom engine mounts (the engine is sunk down) I've had to drop the chassis at the front to deal with the steering. If nothing more it will test my fabrication skills. I think a jig will be the way forward. I hope to give you some proper cad soon

I just remember my mates MR2 knocking it's tits off and they have the same engine
I also remember seeing a lot of Celicas on eBay for sale as spares/repairs for the same issue.

Thoughts have turned to the main chassis. once this is built I can then do the fun part of recreating the body My 1100mm max length puts the width at 535mm, I threw the axle together and realised it just wouldnt work, so i've changed it to 600mm Now the axle looks like this, which is still tight, I have about 120mm of space to run the bearings. Ideally they'd sit on the outer edge near the axles, but that just wouldn't work. For the first time in my life, i'm doing some planning. For the others, its been a case of cut some steel, weld it in, see how it sits. But this one I want all proper like. Ideally i'd have a bit of ply I could draw on (I might still go that route as I can build a jig) but for the time being, all I have is a sheet of ally off the big Scamp, so you'll have to do some squinting to see what i'm up to as I can't control the glare. I started up by drawing the axle. Give you an idea again how tight it is. I pulled the engine out of storage as well and layed out the 30x20 box I'll be using for the backbone. The engine is pretty tall, despite being horizontal, so i've decided to sit it inbetween the chassis rails. This sets them at 270mm apart. I need to order some 150x400x5 plates that I'll use for the bearing hangers. Another reason for the added width is the steering. At 535mm the steering arms would be about 90mm long, which i'm sure wouldn't be great. I still have very little room, but we'll work it out as we come to that bit. I've added the front wheels here and you can see the engine location. I've yet to think about the front part of the chassis as I will have to work out the steering at some point :/

Bump
These are on the up and up, check the prices out.
And I did jokingly say this was the model to have, but I actually mean that.
Early MGF's do not rot out like the later TF does, plus they look better of course

I got some bits What I have 2x 160mm rear wheels 2x 130mm front wheels These all match and more importantly, the fronts use hubs as well instead of bearings direct to the spindles, so they look more, err, wheel like. 4x Michelin wet tyres 2 gold 30mm rear hubs 2 black front hubs A pair of spindles. Spendy spendy spindles. I have no idea why they're so many pennies, £50 of them in fact. They do appear to be billet though Rear brake disc and carrier. This need cleaning up, but all the pretty gold ones has large discs on and I wanted the smallest disc for ground clearance. Pair of used once 30mm axle bearings Brake caliper, master cyclinder, pads Misc bolts and spacers needed to make it all work. Not shown is the 30mm axle Ian gave me That lot was £200, turns out anything used for hobbies is expensive. I'm happy though, I just worked it out buying new and it would have been £804 I'm now at £250 Turns out doing it properly is expensive, but worth it and i'm sure i'm over the worst of it now. I'd like it to come in under £500. I don't think there's much more to buy that's expensive Rear sprocket to suit the 428 pitbike chain is about £25 20x20x2 box shouldn't be too bad, need to work out how much I need though I'll need a sheet of ali for the body panels Then there's all the misc stuff, bolts, paint, perspex for the fly screen etc

This is the full 110cm long I'm not sure she'll be the most comfortable thing to ride, but hey, she'll look good Everything inside is going to be really really tight to package. The side panel height has already been increased from the real Scamp to cover the engine height, but this still hasn't taken into account my engine has an electric starter on to, plus the carb, so they'll have to stick out a bit. I never said it would be perfect. I've spoken to my local kart breaker and he's coming back to me with a price for 4x rear wheels - 2x 160mm wide, 2x 150mm wide with wet tyres (treaded basically) 30mm brake disc carrier 30mm sprocket carrier in steel, to be modified for pit bike sprockets Smallest brake disc he has for as much ground clearance as possible Brake master cylinder and caliper 30mm rear hubs Front spindles with front hubs that take rear wheels (it's a thing, you can get front hubs using the 3 stud fitment instead of the single bolt) So until I get all that stuff.........

I thought i'd check what tyres I could get for the quad wheels as i'd want a lower profile and more road orientated. 16x8-7 Wait, whut. A 7 inch rim, thats a weird size. Turns out you can't get much other than that size for them, so that's put the final nail in the coffin for the fully suspended quad chassis. I walked all the way across the road to see my mate Ian. It was his first time at a Gathering this year and i'd told him he must build a vehicle, and build a vehicle he did. Fecking engineers He produced this in a few weeks Honda GX160 powered bar stool racer, kart axles, wet tyres and a torque converter, it's a lethal beast. Anyways, I went over to view the axles and wheels again. We chatted and decided it was the way forward. I'm going to try and use rear wheels all round as they have huge dish and look cool, but it depends if we could actually get it to turn or even have space up front. I measured the load bed in the real Scamp as it would be pointless if I can't transport it around and I've got 110cm. We decided to make the Mini Mini Scamp 100cm long, this will then dictate all the other dimensions. Best go outside and measure it all up I did work it out, but can't quite remember now, but the width is about 550mm, which is about the width of my ass, so it should work well. The body should hopefully be a pretty decent replica, but the seat and cage will be more of a caricature of real life. I've sent all the dimensions and a load of pics to Ian as he's handy in cad, so hopefully the next update will have a load of 2D pictures I can then work off

Toilet Transport is very much part of RRG for me Knocking about the campsite on something i've built really adds to the experience Way back in what I think was 2014 I 'built' this trike. I say built in the loosest of fashions as it was basically a knackered Honda ATC70 that I roughly made work I think this came along for 2 or 3 Gatherings before I let it go in the tat auction. I decided to build something properly. Well, kinda I bought a Batricar mobility scooter and shoehorned a Honda 390cc industrial engine in The ability to pop wheelie off the throttle and also do 30mph drifts made it fun, the tiler steering not so much. I wish I would have persivered with this, but I blew the engine and broke it up for spares. Next up I joined in with the ride on mower period. These are great really. They're already built and have torque for days. so much so, we built a man trailer for it so we could all ride along This lasted for the one year, to be fair, it was big, hard to transport around. Oh and heavy, so damn heavy. This year saw me needing something with a few weeks to go before RRG22, que this little piece of 70s awesomeness. It's an Allen National triple mower. I removed all the reels off it and everything that added weight. Damn it was slow, plus it used a pulley clutch which was interesting at best. I ended up shortening it 8 inches and turning it into the worst thing you could drive ever. The gearing plus the clutch did allow this though Which brings me up to date. Now you know I own a Mini Scamp (well you should, if you don't, click the linky in my signature) I've decided to make a Mini Mini Scamp. A replica of it, but smol. I also wanted it to be comfortable, so suspension. Though i've still not decided if this is the route it will finally take as it means it will be larger and heavier, but it means I needed a quad as a base. FaceBook came up trumps with a £50 chinese 125 quad. Non runner, rusty as hell, but worth a punt. It's one of these, a Tao Tao 125 And no, it doesn't look like the above, it's 9 years old and shows it First thing was to attempt to get it running, else i'd have to buy a pitbike engine. Half an hour later, a bit of a rewire, finding out the starter chain was snapped and using a drill on the crank finally had it running. Happy, I could move on. Started the strip down Removed a load of the frame that just wont work for the Scamp shape Which left me with this It's still pretty big, the wheels are very large for the look of the Scamp, but then it was never going to be a replica. I'd have to make a laydown rear shock as well as the Scamp is flat at the back. It's also got a huge issue in the fact the front is wider than the back for some reason So i'm thinking I might just use the engine and make my own chassis using go kart axles and wheels which will be more in keeping with my actual Scamp I'm not upset about this, I don't really need suspension, it's not like walking pace over bumps hurts and I don't plan on jumping it. I can sell the front and rear axles and probably make my money back, but at £50 i've still got a working 125cc fully automatic engine with a f?r gearbox built in I'll have a think and come back...

Private plates suck balls, so yeah, it's with it.
Can sell it for £235946278 pounds 😉
Yeah, I've never been a fan of these, but I've found them to have matured rather nicely. They drive really nice and have plenty of grunt and the engine sounds super on chat.
I'd pump the suspension up a bit if I was keeping it and she'd be perfect

1997 MGF VVC 86k 12 months mot Probably the best version of the MGF you can buy (I would say that) 1.8 VVC engine, pulls strong, no overheating issues, will of had the uprated HG set by now Mohair roof in good condition Red half leather interior Bad mediocre points: Both front wings have a slight bit of grot on them. I don't think it's gone through, maybe get away with a rub down and paint. Failing that wings in good condition are available on eBay for circa £40 TheHartop has been sold

What's the deal with the road legalness of them?
Just allowed to be pulled along by an operator, or could you in theory change a few things and ride inside?
