Crazy Bob Norwood creations Part3- This Ferrari Testarossa engined, supercharged, tube-frame, 'Ferrari 308' drag car.
It's 1989, you fancy doing some NHRA Pro Stock drag racing, and as you're Bob Norwood it's going to be something curse word mental.
A tube frame, front engine, 'Ferrari 308', with a Ford 9in rear axle and Lenco gearbox.
But this is all about the engine, as it's flippin' nuts.
Take one Ferrari Testarossa flat12 (180deg V12, whatever, it's flat and there's 12cyls, get over it), and fully build it, with a custom Crower crank and rods that de-stroke it down to 4.3ltr, forged pistons, ported heads, Haltech EFI, and an absolutely huge centrifugal supercharger that was actually off a train (A UK built one it says), running 50psi+ boost.
The custom inlet manifolds housed the 12 fuel injectors and twin air/water intercoolers, and rather than being belt driven, the supercharger was ran straight off the crank with a gear reduction unit off a gas turbine powered helicopter!
The thing made 1400bhp on 120 octane race fuel, revving to 8500rpm, and ran 7.0 in the quarter, but didn't seem to get much use overall and no idea what happened to it after that.
If anyone has it, they can keep the car, but if I can have the engine that'd be lovely. Thanks.
