I'll now play devils advocate. This has just popped up for sale on The Northern Retro faceache page: Its less than 100 miles from you......the parts that you've got on your 414 would both fix and personalise it and it has the arguably better 1.6 Honda engine with very low mileage. Plus its in a great colour (IMHO anyway). Tom

How about fitting a known good engine (is there such a thing with a K Series?) The amount of ZR's being broken finding an engine shouldn't be hard. Could even stick a 1.8 in.
That said there is something satisfying about repairing a car properly and knowing it'll last a bit longer regardless of the cost. A good chance to upgrade the HG etc.

Might be easier to find a crashed 6L Cupra/FR for the full lot to be swapped across. Guy on another forum did that when he crashed his ibiza. Swapped it all into a 1.2 9n

The fuel pump on my Polo has gone.
Plenty of cheap Bosch pumps on eBay that will physically fit, but they run at 3 bar. The standard Polo pump is 1.5 bar. Will I be OK? I know the MPI Polo's (GT/G40) run 3 bar and I'must assuming it's all the same fuel lines.

What's the best way to lower a transit? I read something about people fitting T5 coilovers to the front, but information seemed scarce.

I also vote Jag. Maybe a nice XJ40 although a nice X300 will be easier to find.

I'm looking forward to seeing this progress. I really fancy a nice Diesel estate one as a daily......SWMBO wants a 1 Series.....I doubt I'll win haha.

Wheel change, slight drop and a debadge of sides and rear. Replacing the vinyl on the side to delete the holes for the side badges would be a nice little touch!

I was saying to the wife only yesterday that I really fancy another (this time working) MGF!
Mine will be red with the 16" 'Abingdon' wheels.
