Pap'd it today, looks brilliant in the flesh! Who would've thought that the humble Liana would get this much love 😁 I should've popped down in mine I'm only up the road 😄 Gotta say I'm growing fairly attached to the daft thing. All the issues have been of my own making really and fundamentally it's a great car. Practical size, comfortable to drive, decent MPG and now it even looks OK 😂

I'd like to echo the thanks to all involved. As always I had an excellent time and the quality and variety of cars there was at an all time high. We took a mate along who's only a young lad and not been to a big show before and he was absolutely blown away.
I wasn't sure what to expect with the return to Mallory Park. It was brilliant being able to camp right on track side. We sat on Saturday morning having our coffee and breakfast and watching the Quick 60 which was ace! The toilets were also much better this year, with them actually still being usable on the Sunday morning. I also liked the layout of the show field, much less walking up and down a massive hill. Also the food cart selection was brilliant. I had Curry Goat for lunch on Sunday which was flipping lovely.
Now for some downsides. I don't know if it was because of how good last year was coming out the other side of the Pandemic etc, but this year the vibe just didn't feel as good. I know that's a very vague thing to say. I'm not sure if the camping had also had something to do with that. As brilliant as camping trackside was, it did by its nature make the campsite spread out, which I think kinda changed the campsite dynamic. Made it less easy to wander around and just chat to people. I don't really know which is better to be honest, which isn't very helpful really.
The security I thought were great, friendly and decent, however there just wasn't enough of them. I was talking to one of the Security lads who had worked 20hrs out of 24, they were having to grab sleep when they could as only one watch had apparently been paid for. This also led to an issue that when trying to drive from campsite to the show field you had to navigate through a queue for the coffee cart, because there was no-one to Marshall the crowd.
Just little things, but maybe stuff that could be addressed for next year, which I'll definitely be at, because I love RRG!

Well after setting off from RRG at about 4.30 yesterday I got home at 1ish today! Massive shout to my mate Mark who set off at 5.30am today to come get me. Since getting home I have replaced the brake hardline and flexi, so it's all sorted once more.

Pap'd it today, looks brilliant in the flesh! Saw this today , looks really smart . Everyone in the group i was with said the same thing , looks amazing & they’d never have thought one had that potential . 👍 Cheers chaps! I had planned to wind the coilovers down when I arrived to make it look cooler. Really wish I had because maybe I would have noticed the rubbing brake line and would be home now and not in Donnington Services travelodge waiting for my legend of a mate to come collect me with his trailer!

Good to see it out and about, I think the black rear panel looks great and those wheels suit it really well... The rear lights actually work quite well with the colour, they stuck out like a sore thumb on mine but with a silver car they kinda blend in. Cheers, I'll try and get some better pictures this week. For the rear lights I've ordered some red tinting film. I'll give it a go and see how it looks.

Sorted the alignment as best I could this morning. Then fitted the black boot plinth. Then maiden voyage to Lidl for shopping: Was a stressful drive, but fairly uneventful. Sounds like the front passenger spring is binding on the top mount. So I'll have a look at that this afternoon. Then this week I'm going full alignment and some 45 profile tyres for the front. If I get time I'll try and sort the droplinks as well.

I would use a washer on each side, the bolts will be fine, I usually try and use of ones with a decent length shank on but it's not critical. I'll stick washers on them all when I'm re doing the alignment. The shanked bolts I have the shank is too long, or the threaded section too short depending how you look at it, although with a washer on each side it might be OK.

Looking at a picture of the coil over, are they a 2 bolt at the bottom type or is that a stock image? If so you should be fine. If they have a single bolt clamp at the bottom you want a bolt with an unthreaded shank. Two bolts a la Mk1/2/3 Golf etc etc etc. They're 'camber adjustable' I.e the top hole is slotted, if that makes any difference.

Some advice needed regarding front hub to strut bolts.
When I took it all apart one of the original bolt heads was completely rounded and one had been replaced with a bolt that was too short and didn't pass through the nut, which had been filled with black mastic 😬. I've put some high tensile (10.8 I believe) M12x1.5 bolts in with nyloc nuts. Will this be OK? Should I add washers?
Should I just buy some proper bolts? I thought that would be a simple affair, but I've just been to Toyota (I thought Toyota suspension Toyota Bolts) and they wanted £65! Extensive googling has only resulted in confusion.

Well I've ordered 2 brake flexi pipes, and I have a load of hardline. I might as well do both sides for peace of mind. Also ordered a camber guage so I can have a bit more of a play about with the suspension. I think it'll get slightly more wound down at the same time 😁 Tom

Maiden voyage was a disaster.
I had tracked it by eye, thought I'd bolt checked everything, pulled off the drive. Horrible noise. Then I lost all brakes. Banging and knocking noise from the back. Slowly round the block. Back on the drive.
Hardline brake pipe that I haven't even disturbed has broken. Tiny little pinhole. Flexi is also looking suspect and the union is rotten. Driverside front had gained variable camber and was at max negative! Bolts loose. Not sure if I hadn't tightened them properly or if I'm going to have to get some new ones. Maybe change to Toyota ones.
So it's back sitting on the drive in disgrace, and I have no car for work tomorrow 🙄.
This was supposed to be a sensible daily 😂

Fresh off the jack: Tracking needs some work Going to set it by eye if I can, and then take it next week for a proper alignment. Corolla coilover fitment wise. Fronts go straight on. I believe I'll be able to open up the Droplink bracket hole and run adjustable droplinks. Rears need the Liana topmount fitting, the hole needs to be opened up a little but it's just sheet steel. The lower mount needs a new hole drilling. I made a cardboard template from my old shock and then used that to drill the holes. Looks like with a bit of fiddling I should be able to use the standard rear droplinks. The current ones are knackered so I'm going to order some more.

Can't wait to see this lowered. I'm getting similar vibes as when markbognor did his Demio which was also ace. Hopefully Saturday should see it sitting properly and I'll get some photos.
