Pressed plates have arrived. Being held up by waiting for new wheel studs and nuts. Think I'm also definitely going to have to get two new tyres. Can't decide whether to get a pair of 195/45s to match what's currently on the back, or put them on the front and get some 205/45s for the back.

You will not believe it, but I did so, too! Okay, mine were only a little bit too large, about 12,9mm instead of 12,3mm (measured). I noticed that when I tried to pull one of them (ordered 16, received 20) into a brake drum with one of the new wheel nuts. It only worked a few millimeters, after that the bolt and the nut were somewhat damaged. So I returned the 19 unused and got me 16 correct sized honda bolts, maybe a liitle too long, but that can be changed later. And since the nut and bolt method did not seem apropriate I bought a tool usually used for tie rod end removal after having seen some how to videos on youtube. Unfortuantely I bought one with a lousy quality on ebay. And after only two studs replaced the thread on the obviously too weak screw was dead. So I bought one with better quality and did the rest of the job today. The brakes needed replacent anyway. That is very helpful! I have one of those balljoint splitters so I'll use that when the new studs arrive! In other news I fitted the front coilovers. They do indeed just bolt on. To the point that the bracket for the brake flexi has the same pitch thread and can be used. I'm also going to be able to drill out the arb bracket on the shock and use some adjustable drop links.

So went out to fit the extended wheel studs. Turned out I've ordered 14.1mm spline instead of 12.4.
My stupidity knows no bounds.

This will look ace. I was tempted to do silly stuff with the MK1 Kia Rio I had off my grandad but it was so bad to drive I couldn't be arsed. They're pretty similar looks wise. Funny you should mention those as that was also on my list, but I couldn't find a single one for sale in the whole country. I was thinking Golf Coilovers and some 15s with 205/50s.

qwertyWhere did you get your stereo surround from? I tried for ages to get one but everyone I ordered from refunded my money after a week saying they couldn't get the stock so I assumed they were all discontinued My headunit is just hanging in the hole now😐 I'd have to mod it anyway, my stereo is massive but having a starting point helps The fascia is a Connects2 (part number CT24SZ10) I got it from Car Audio Direct and it was £17.98 delivered. If you've got a double din headunit a better starting point may be one of the Liana specific fascias you can get on Wish/Aliexpress. They're designed for 9" screens but seem to have a lip for normal double din headunits. £4.41 50%OFF | WQLSK Car GPS Navigation Stereo For SUZUKI LIANA 2006-2013 Radio Fascias Panel Frame Fit 2Din 9 inch In Dash headunit screen a.aliexpress.com/_v1vWRD

Interesting to read about the Saab convertibles. They always seem very tempting when I'm browsing sub £2k stuff

Bought a boot plinth Fitted a different headunit with a cheap Bluetooth dongle, I'm working on something a bit more elegant. Also extended wheel studs have arrived as well as spigot rings so I might fit them tomorrow.

They also have much cooler retro digital dashes! I've been looking at the dash, they're only 20 quid on eBay and it looks like it's plug and play according to the wiring diagrams, even has the same plug. All you have to do is make it fit well ...which might be a touch awkward Let me know how you get on! They're so much cooler than the face-lift one!

This thread got me thinking: Absolute fantasy would be the Ferrari 250 GTO: I had a model of one as a kid, and I just think they're the must stunning Ferrari ever made and the sound is incredible. Still fantasy but maybe slightly achievable is the Porsche 996.2 GT3 RS The 996 is (controversially) my favourite generation of 911 and I see the GT3 RS as the ultimate. "Real" car wise it would have to be Scott Osbournes BMW 2002: Properly sorted in every way and used really really hard! Again sounds amazing. Full write up here: www.bmw2002.co.uk/car-of-the-month/scott-osbournes-modified-tii-car-of-the-month-december-2020/As for road, maybe just a day on the Penines and over to the Lakes.

^^^^^^Exactly the same as I was thinking. This shape MX5 is growing on me, looks like you've got a good example. The more they come down in price the more they grow on me 😂

+1 What size are those tyres?
Thanks redratbike qwerty callisrbraaap they are 165/70R13. They were brand new and on the wheels when I bought them, they match the rolling diameter of the originals but do look a little baloon-y now it's low but I really like the look. And the decent side wall has really kept the ride nice after putting the coilovers on. I kind of wanted it to sit with a similar stance to the 70's touring cars like the minis and cortinas stuff. I think the tyre size looks really good! If anything I would be tempted to go slightly bigger!

Not sure anyone should admit that a Liana makes them drool 😂, I'm not ashamed of my questionable taste! But the combination of color, stance and especially those wheels make that car for me. Years ago I saw a pic of the second gen Nissan Prairie, a car I would usually not spend a second look for. But that particular one appealed much to me, it was beige(!), lowered on smoothies (or mooncaps, can't remember) with white walls. Looked definitely different! Positively (to me)! I think I have a photograph of that very car on a hard drive somewhere! Tom

Do you guys mean the plinth on the boot? As I was thinking I wonder what that would look like black lol. Also. I'd be tempted to red tint the rear lights, but thats just one of those things I like the look of. Yeah the earlier ones have a black plinth and nicer rear lights They also have much cooler retro digital dashes! I'm weighing up either getting pre face-lift tail lights or maybe wrapping the current ones with red tinting film for a bit of a different look.

Those wheels look great, I was toying with removing the badges and also doing that gloss black rear panel you get on some models ... I'll wait to see what the mot man says first to decide whether to keep it or not, but now I'm not alone in the wilderness with it I may just throw a little money at it. Also.. what colour is yours? I first thought it was the same as mine which the logbook calls 'beige' but I prefer to call 'champagne gold' just to feel special 😊 but in these pics yours looks more silver. . . Taking the badges off makes a much bigger difference than I expected. Really cleans it up. Its funny you should mention the gloss black, my brother was just suggesting that I do the same with mine. It is indeed silver. There seems to be a lot of silver ones. Loved the other thread, love the idea. The wheels shouldn't look as right as they do. Good job. When do the coilies arrive??? The Coilies have arrived! However, I don't think I'll be fitting them until next weekend when I can drive over to the garage rather than doing it on the drive. Tom

Yes, those white borbet As look really good on Your car. But this one makes me really drooling! Not sure anyone should admit that a Liana makes them drool 😂, but if any one is going to it would be that one! I'm going to spray my grill satin black the same as that one.
