Is the dash going to be roughly where it is? Seems a long way back from the screen into the cabin to me...
But I can't remeber how tall you are? I seem to vaguely recollect that you're fairly long, so obviously the ergonomics that would work for me at 5'9"are unlikely to be any good if you're well over 6'...

I spent years using my dad’s old handheld mask, with a graded lens in. When I finally splashed out on an Aldi automatic one it was quite a step up, but when that one inevitably broke, the proper large window “full colour” one I treated myself to is an utter revelation. Without a doubt, worth every penny. Not only can you see so much better, it’s way more comfortable to wear.

The trick with slotted screws is to sacrifice a screwdriver and grind one to be an exact fit into the slot.

Funny how we’re all so different.
I genuinely enjoy sorting wiring.
Some of the other stuff that people here willingly jump into fill me with the horrors though.

PS Glen what was wrong with a tickle of grinder? Seriously?! You really have to ask? How could I have gotten them all the same with the grinder? I’d never have been able to sleep again with mismatched studs! Not to mention the potential for putting things out of balance at high speeds. 🤣🤣🤣

I don’t think it needs any lowering. Those wheels fill the arches nicely, and you just end up losing load carrying capability, or end up with a bone jarring ride.

Do you need the Dutch mob to go into action for you? Maybe 🤣 I last messaged the supplier on Thursday. If I haven’t heard from them by say Tuesday, I’ll message again to request a cancellation of the order and a refund. Maybe a bit of negative publicity on the Canta forum might get a response. Either that or a native Dutch speaker who is willing to give them a phone call and put a rocket up them. Failing that, I’m not beyond forking out for a ferry crossing and riding up there on my bike…

Brakes are now spot on. 👍
I can’t say that the high speed cornering is any better as I haven’t done any. 🤣

I am still waiting for my parts delivery from the Dutch supplier. 😡 I suspect that the end result is that I’m not going to get either the parts, or my money back. They’re not responding to emails, and I’m a bit too far away to pop around and bang on the counter. As it is, now, I am at the point where I don’t want the parts from them anymore anyway; I’d sooner pay double and get them elsewhere, or just set fire to the car. The really annoying thing is that it’s only one drive belt, of which I now have the two purchased while I was in the US, and an alternator belt, which can be sourced from anywhere once you’ve sussed the right size. In frustration, I had a rumble through my stores to see if I could find anything close. It appears that a Discovery 200tdi alternator belt is pretty close. The new one I had was just too small (605 mm long), but the secondhand one I found marked as 610 popped on perfectly. So that’s now fitted and I can move along a bit. I need to clean up and paint the battery tray next, and then I can refit the battery and start to work out how the ignition switch is wired. Once I have done that I can organise a replacement for the smashed one. It looks like a Berlingo/Partner one could be pressed into service, and that particular type is available as a kit complete with four door lock barrels that are all keyed alike. I’ll need to see if the barrels look to be interchangeable, but if they are then it’s the way I’ll go.

I know the elderly Hot Rod community here in town would loose their stuff over it, if I do it... All the more reason to do it, in my book. 😈

I'm planning on inviting them to our shed for a BBQ when I'm a bit mobile again. I think that will be a nice way to thank them. That sounds like an excellent idea.

Uuuhhhmmm, not sure … bit insipid colour scheme …🤔 A couple of decades of me driving around in it without washing it, it really wouldn’t matter much what colour it started out as. 🤣

Years ago, in a previous life, I worked briefly for a bloke that bought and sold ex military stuff. Mainly Land-Rovers, and he was a total crook (although that’s a story in itself), but we had several Bedford MK and MJ trucks, and I was tasked one day with taking the lockers off of one of them as the customer wanted to fit long range water and diesel tanks… they looked identical to those and I can confirm that they were way heavier than I expected them to be! 🤣

Of the choices from that helpful info, I’d personally go for the adapter plate: Then you can fit whatever radio you like. Looking at apple carplay specific units, the single din ones are all a bit spendy unless you go for a no-name Chinese one off eBay, and you said you wanted a cd option. Blaupunkt’s. “Barcelona” is about £150 and looks suitably 90s for the Astro: For another £20 you can get the almost identical looking DAB equipped Essen: But there’s a lot of decent stuff out there for not much money. Just make sure it’s “made for iPhone” and it looks/does what you want it to.

For what it’s worth, if you have an iPhone, then spending enough to get something that works with it, with CarPlay, is going to be worth the extra.
That way you’ll have seamless access to the phone for calls, maps for navigation and the music player if you want to stream music, all from big and easy to follow buttons on the screen that mirrors your phone (so no difficult new shizz to learn)
However, if you can’t find anything single DIN that suits, then as long as whatever you get has the ability to link to your phone and charge it, and has decent sized buttons you can stab without hitting random ones by mistake, you should be fine.
I have always liked the simplicity of Blaupunkt units.
Unless you really want the ability to play CDs, then I’d say go for a mech-less one as they’re more compact.
