well following the excellent feedback from other RR'ers here retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=128058 i have decided to finally finish this one. Plan is to strip all of the best bits off my Brown mini 1000, as this shell is a bit questionable as it has had a small whack in its lifetime... sell everything that is left over...hopefully this project will pay for itself - the best kind!

Quick trip up my unit after work today. Well after checking that the my Brown mini shell is truely scrap, moved the BRG into the lockup alongside ready to start pulling stuff across. Had a look to see if my steel roundnose front fits...goes on pretty good. Il end up using this whilst i fix up the fiberglass clubby front... Pulled out the nackerd loom as well, il fit the loom from the brown one instead as thats pretty much brand new... Frustrating having no electricity at the moment down my lockup plenty to do on my next day off...

Long day today... Firstly ripped out the dash and forward loom on the brown mini and transferred to the BRG. (apologies for the appalling images, my camera phone has had it today) small repair to a plug on the light switch and she's in Then set about moving the entire subframe across...shouldnt take too long iv done this a few times before... old frame off Donor frame off brown one hour or two later and its in... Spent rest of the day connecting everything up mainly then the light went along with my back Still gotta refit the shock towers, and join the front loom to the rear. But next main job is to get the beam axle off and move the subframe across from the brown one...least thats a little lighter than the front!

Right, another day off so cracked on with it today. (better pics this time too!) So started with BRG as it was yesterday... Stripped rear end down of the brown one Rear subby out... Did the same to the BRG, stipped everything out Beam axle and coilovers off... Up she goes. Thanks to an overly heavy repair to the valence closure panel took about an hour of swearing and "gentle" persuasion to get the rear subby mounts done up... And back on all fours. Installed my early lamps too. Two biggest jobs now out of the way, should see some real progress now! ;D

May I ask why you went from a beam axle back to a subframe???

May I ask why you went from a beam axle back to a subframe??? Sure. Its a huddersfield beam, so pretty poor quality tbh. They flex like mad, and the shell only has standard turrets anyway. Good quality beam/coilover kit will work great IF set up properly, cornerweighted etc... otherwise the stock setup will outdo it everyday. Plus stock stuff is always easier to service and work with in my experience EDIT Oh and if anyone says weight...all of it is in the drums and radius arms really. So unless your running ti or alloy ones, its hardly worth it, change the doors to alloy or fiberglass/carbon if you wanna save weight and ditch the glass!
