Hi, I'm fairly new here and I thought I might as well post this up. Brief History:My mum bought me the car for my 12th birthday for £200, completely standard with 1 previous owner. Over the past 5 years I have just messed about with it and learned a fair bit along the way, all the money I ever earned went into the car, and paid for a few modifications which I put on, and I paid a "specialist" to make the car a flip front which fell apart after 6 months. Since I have had the Mini, my mum has been driving it ocasionally to various Mini shows all over the country, including Santa Pod and Birmingham for the International Mini Meet 2009. After this time the Mini was starting to show its age, rust popping up all over the place, and various dents/scratches and of course that god aweful flip front. So now I have finished school, all over summer I have been working and got all the overtime I could, which has given me the money to get the car professionally sorted out because we have no electricty in our garage as it is 7 miles from our house in the middle of no where. Pictures:So, thats where I'm at for the moment, the mini is back to a standard front, along with a few custom touches such as the van grille and finally a full respray. I plan to get the mini ready for my 17th birthday which is in february. Hope you all like! Ash.

Thanks, should be good. Next thing to do is take the engine out now I have an engine hoist and spray the engine bay and paint the engine.

Boring update again! I bought some early morris minor indicators up at Bath & West Mini show, so today I test fitted them along with the headlights I cleaned up, its all got to come off again, but the only reason I put them on is because I had lost all enthusiasm in the project, I also put the bonnet in place, and personally I think it all looks brilliant! Not the best pictures in the world be here goes... Ash. ;D

I love that you put the front sheet metal back and you're using a van grill!

Very nice indeed! Get in on some little squat tens - Fiesta brakes are the way to go; cheap and bloody strong. Keep up the good work!

Love that, especially the van grill, makes it look much earlier than a '91 car. Perfect 1st car I reckon

Thanks for the nice comments everyone Haven't really done anything recently because of the stupid snow. I have ordered a lot of parts recently though, all the little bits to finish it off, and all the service parts for the engine, because I figured that it will be easier to get at everything while the engine is out. Speaking of engines, I have decided to use the engine out of my other Mini, it is a 1275 unit out of my mini sprite. Its a good, low mileage engine that runs very well. The only problem is that two of the thermostat bolts have sheared off. Luckily, my next door neighbour has the right tools at work to sort it out for me. It will then get a clean up and a lick of paint and look good as new.

love the look you've got going. some polished ten inch wheels will look the ticket, and just try to keep the whole thing de-cluttered! Importantly, also, don't get bogged down in any details like fitting a bit of trim or painting something, if you can get away with it. February isn't that far away and you'll need it finished by then! (also, can help if you can drive it while perfecting it - keeps the enthusiasm high )

Thanks. Umm the wheels are metal flake red banded tens with white wall tyres. Yeah I'm not too bothered with all the trim at the moment, as long as it works I'm not worried. Soo can't wait to drive it though! ;D

It looks great!
Only a few weeks to go before you can start driving; have you got any lessons booked?
Good luck with it

Did a bit more today, did the passenger door build and bolted it on, got pretty much all the rear end on, both seats and various other bits: Even the interior is coming together slowly: More soon, Ash.
