My old man has a 1.6 SI, it's slow as f**k and has a horrible interior but it's quite a decent handler, does 40 mpg on a run and has only needed a driveshaft and a window motor in 5 years and 80k... My mate had an early eGT saloon, with the SR20 engine, that was pretty damn quick and handled great, but cost sod all to insure as he was 18 at the time  Good cars, just a bit....*snoring*  |

my mates got one , every time he ferries me to where I abandoned the w124 due to alcohol we have the 'wow this is a bitchin motor , see how it corners like an F1 etc etc chat (plse note irony) , that said driven with spirit it proper livens up.. he reckons another 5 yrs out of it before a change , bangenomics = nice

WillCarter you are a legend ;D for creating this thread we had a bog standard 1.6lx P10 hatch a few years back. Absolutely loved it. Ive already sworn to have another one as soon as I can afford the insurance (preferably a 2.0 eGT saloon - cant decide whether to get another P10 or a p11) and theres nothing anybody can say to put me off. although don't want the P11 144, mate had one, drove like an absolute nutter (70mph round roundabouts and all) and it stuck to the road so well but just didnt have the character of the old P10  Call me sad but they're one of my favourite cars if not my favourite. Especially with a few mods they look and handle brilliant. Did anyone see the p10 saloon with a 400bhp cosworth lump in it (and 4wd).  Nooo.....bad hand,.....don't click on that buy it now button |

We had one of these newer ones as a hire car a couple of times when we lived over that way a few years back. Must have been about a 2002 or 2003 model I think (?)  I loved it. Interesting styling, funky interior and it drove and handled really well. Its a shame you can't get them over here, I'd love to pick one up and dump it over some bigger wheels. |

I've got one and I kind of like it.  This is it, looking cleaner than usual and shot from the good side. It's a Sport+ MVT-6 - which means it's got half-leather, 16" rims and some gadgets (Leccy windows + roof, trip computer, xenon headlights, cup holders). It's a CVT Auto (six speed with uppy-downy manual shift if you're feeling racy  which I like in concept but it does scrub the speed somewhat and does nothing for the economy. I planned to play with it a bit in a 'scene' kind of way but I can't bring myself to do it when it has failed so badly on the economy front (25mpg average with pensioner-style driving). It is lovely to drive though and handles great in standard form. Anyway, here's what it looks like with a set of Rotas bolted on:  ...and here's what it will never look like:  |

I love the boxy shape to these as well as the 'unloved' nature of them. I would love to have a Saloon early model (With the SR20 engine) - I assume that a turbo swap is relatively simple? This one that Will found is awesome - for some reason, it just screams Skyline to me!  Rysz. |

After a quick search on eBay and Autotrader it would seem that the early Primera's (P10) are pretty thin on the ground now.
Rysz, I believe the Pulsar GTi-R engine is an easy swap.

Amazed at how good some of those modified Primera's look. They seem to be one of the cars that overtaken the Sierra for Banger racing once they ran out, and to be fair my Dad had a mint P10 and he couldnt even give it away so that was there that ended up |

I would love a GT, but insurance would hurt me muchly. Shame as I've spotted a few T-reg ones for less than £500...

Wouldn't bother with a GT, My mate had one from new as a company car, and even ringing its neck it wasn't as fast as his girlfriends twincam Sierra saphire GL, couldn't corner any faster either, engine was very revvy so it felt like you were going fast, until you wanted to keep up with anything else. Might as well buy a lower range one and tart it up and save the extra insurance money. |
