Wow. Lovely.
Where abouts are you?
I'm guessing you're Geelong-ish. You mentioned Tassie a few times. But then Humpty Doo! Thats like 3700km away! Did you do all that in the Morrx? Serious mileage.

Crackin'. I loved Darwin. Only there for a week but it was/is a super relaxed town. Surrounded by some amazing places. Paradise.
So do you drive the Morrix cross country? Or is it transported somehow?
Great car btw.

G'day How time flies, it was five years ago today that I became a Morry owner and started the project that was to become MORRX. Owning a Minor is quite different to anything else I have owned, most times I take it out someone will comment on it or just look and smile as if remembering happy times. Surprisingly this also happens in Darwin, where the average age of the population is much lower than other cities. This is the first time I have done anything like this and I could have managed the project much better than I did but surprisingly the transplant has ended up with a car that performs much as I had hoped/expected. The injected 6 port 13b is the perfect engine for older cars, it is relatively compact in size so fits without much cutting, its power is SMOOTH and progressive with power and torque coming with the revs, so you do not have to spend a fortune trying to stop axel tramp from the old cart springs. The engine pulls smoothly from 0 to 7000 rpm it just gets stronger as you go through peak torque at 4000 heading to peak power at 7000. If you use 7000 you pay for it in petrol consumption as you would with any engine but if you stay mainly under 3500 consumption is reasonable at around 30mpg, mind you letting the auto change a 3000 is adequate to keep ahead of the traffic even with the aircon on, 3500 in top is 140kph. The best part of the changes, for enjoying driving the car, was the brake upgrade. The original brakes worked but did not inspire much confidence in modern traffic, if I had intended to keep the car just for club runs/weekends then the original set up may have had a place but as I use the car any time and especially with the increased power, power assist four wheel disks make life a lot more relaxed when driving and allows you to appreciate the driving more not having to worry about the usual idiots as much knowing you can stop. Over all I would say a positive five years, some frustration in the beginning getting people to do what they said they would but now I enjoy Morrx every time I take it out and that is what it was all about in the first place. Cheers Graham

Hi Graham Thought I'd take a look at your Minor, really liking what you've done with it and the fact that you use it regularly makes me most pleased! Too many great old cars being 'looked after' under a tarp in a backyard or in a shed. Can't wait until I can get mine to shows as well! Unfortunately the Minor Clubs over this side of the island seem to be a bit.. grey. I think I will probably spend more time at the various other classic club meets, haha. Cheers, Matt

G'day HAPPY NEW YEAR I have finally changed the passengers glove box lid to match the drivers side, now all I have to do is have it repainted and sort out the switches and the dash will be finished. The problem ,which caused the delay, was that its hinges were on the bottom requiring that it be bolted/screwed on the under side of the dash unfortunately the air con was in the way. A mate, at home, came up with a solution to make up new hinges attaching to the old mounting points then stepping down to the bottom of the door with the hinge there, it works a treat. He dose not even have a Morrie, just a ww2 Ford Jeep, Bullet Mustang and an Austin Healey 100/4. I finally had his idea turned into reality at Axe Welding/Giddy up Horse floats in Drysdale a very helpful man who was able to re use, with some modification, the bracket/hinges that were on the door. He only has a V8 FE Holden and is building a 40's Chev Coup Ute with a 350 but no Morrie. It is wonderful how helpful some non Morrie owners can be. Cheers Graham

G'day In 1934 QANTAS built a hanger at Darwin's then airport ( what is now Ross Smith Ave. in Parap) as part of its service to Singapore and hence London. Last weekend the Motor Vehicles Enthusiasts Club, the current lease holder, celebrated the buildings eightieth birthday with a dislpay of some of the members vehicles. This building is rare in Darwin as very few buildings have survived for eighty years, after the WW2 bombings and Tropical cyclones ( primarily Tracy in 1974) destroying large parts of the city. Here are a few pictures I took on the day, a wide range of vehicles on display from a 1907 Triumph bike through T models , WW2 jeeps, Yank Tanks to 5 Minors. Darwin has grown a bit in the last 80 years, the hanger is now surounded by flats Morrx 1500 Datsun and 5 speed also with air con 1907 Triumph One way to get your bike to the show tow it behind your other bike Cheers Graham

G'day Thank you for the kind words. The biggest problem fitting any engine in a minor is the location of the steering rack, just behind the engine and above the gearbox. So length can be a problem, the 12A is shorter than the 13B ,in mine, so should be a bit easier. The injected 6 port 13B is a better motor having a claimed 160hp in standard tune and with the extra ports pulling better through the rev range. But a carby 12A would be easier to fit and still give over double standard Minor's power. I hope your thoughts become reality. cheers Graham

G'day First Friday gathering tonight, when I arrived I could not resist parking next to the GT 40 and getting a picture. All three cars were in production at the same time (early mid 60's), quite a difference in style and price today. An original GT40 is worth millions, the Cortina 10,000 plus and the Minor 4 to 5 thousand. Pictures taken at Fishermans Wharf, Darwin just on sunset 3rd October. Cheers Graham
