My friend had his award winning mx5 stolen from south london last night, sadly they couldnt start it and drive it off so they decided roll it down the road to torch it instead The problem now is that it has been stolen from where it was abandoned and the owner was hoping to salvage what he could from it If anyone spots it it breakers yards please get in touch

Are you sure it hasn't been grabbed by one of the police's recovery contractors?

i would suggest contacting local authority, as if on a public highway its their resposibility to get it removed, police will do so if a danger to the public!

The contractor would be my first thought too, round here they have to act once informed of a vehicle by the police in an hour to get it shifted...

The problem now is that it has been stolen from where it was abandoned and the owner was hoping to salvage what he could from it If anyone spots it it breakers yards please get in touch I assume it was insured. Then surely the remains would belong to the insurance company, even if they end up in a breakers yard, so he couldn't salvage / remove any parts until he'd negotiated with them to keep the remains anyway ? Paul H Nope the remains belong to the owner until any claim is settled, its much better in the owners hands rather than getting bits pilfered while it in a storage yard.

thats correct, you can keep your vehicle at home until the claim is settled, unless its a bad rta and police need to inspect it/etc

If it had happened in Bexley Borough all ours get taken to RJK Breakers out on the Erith Marshes, might well be where Bromley take theirs as well. Alternatively the Met Impound yard in Charlton is where they also get taken to. As for the perpetrators take your pick from either Star Lane/Powerscroft Road/Ramsden or any of the other estate type parts round that way had dealings with most of them when I worked in Halfords over there 10 years or so ago including the ones who broke into my car on my drive and tried to steal that
