Hey guys names mark, This is the story of my rather insane capri build so far...Comments welcome both good and bad :smash: Started life as a 1982 Bog standard capri, underwent a few colour changes and engine swaps including rover V8, carbed zetec etc etc. Unfortunatly i have lost most of the pictures that have been taken over the last year, these are just a few i have left...Will try and find more. I have a workshop in swansea and we specialise in fabrication, painting and mechanical repair. I don't do things without a reason and I'm sure you will all agree (when you see the pictures) my reason's are justified :wack: Enjoy This happens to be a mazda RX8 front suspension setup  can you spot whats new? :smokin:

RX8 rear subframe (i cant stress the amount of measurements needed for this conversion) I got bored one evening and made a SAFETY seat lol Rear subframe needed some clearance This is one of the front chassis leg mounting points and rear subframe mount (pre bracing) After 4 weeks of solid fabrication and rust repair it was time to paint the old girl. How she was sat 2 days ago, Shell has had another 6 coats so plenty of paint left for a colour sand and compound

Wow, that looks a little bit mad Why the RX8 stuff and not the donor BMW though? I had an RX8 sitting around the workshop (as you do) and it made perfect sence, wheelbase was correct, had a standard LSD, independent suspension etc etc Dident have a donor BMW, this engine choice was plan B if I'm honest, was going to go Lexus V8 but couldent find any nice engines about.

Excellent. I really like modernised classics, and the Capri is ripe for it. Top marks on a nice engineering project. (Must....resist......elephant in the room.......)

I love stuff like this! will you be using the 6 speed manual on this? Havent found a gearbox yet, been looking at the 5 speeds, 6 speeds seem to be like hens teeth with a large price tag, weighting up my options at the moment.

They are a great shape made by Ford for the time I must say. Hats off to you for going slightly radical on the suspension aspect. What a great V8 to slip under the bonnet of a Capri. That should make for a huge grin factor once it is complete .

I take it your front suspension is set up for front sump well because the subframe is from a rotary powered car, its a bit of a tricky one, Front sump or rear sump wouldent be a problem , but due to the Sump design on the V8 (Pokes out past the engine block at the front) i need to do some redesign with the antiroll bar and steering rack as the blasted things are huge lol

looking good on the paint work side of things there ;D i was going to question the m60 part of the thread title, then realised its the bmw engine code should go well with that in there with the rx8 setup though
