Sadly I don't have any pictures, as posting on behalf of a friend. Stolen from Beaconsfield Football Club on 30th Dec 2012 between 7pm and 8pm. Reg XGU707M although it did have its show plates on at the time which are BDR 529. Its a working car, meaning he's currently having to turn down bookings for it. Here is the exact car that was nicked, any information leading to the recovery will be compensated, no idea how or what, but that's all I've been told.

Is it a 4 door? Fairly sure I saw it at run to the sun in Newquay some years ago. Even then the bloke said it cost him 90 quid in fuel to drive it there from London! Does anyone have a pic?
What an odd choice of car to steal!

Attempting to get a picture off him now, but he's a bit reluctant to do much at the minute...
Very odd choice of car to steal, has to have been nicked to order to be honest.

unfortunately a no-questions-asked sale of engine, box, back axle and so on will make it worth while to nick this car, then weigh the rest in or remove all ID tags and flog it for bangers.
Shame, I hope it is found but if its not been found after this time I suspect its been stripped.

Engine box and axle if sold seprate would not be worth more than around £3,500 so i don't think it was worth stealing for that amount and as for the shell been sold for racing i don't think so no one would want it without rear axle plus i would be to easy to spot at a meeting i think joy riders or someone who thinks they got lucky stole it its not an easy car to hide lets just hope it turns up

I disagree. People will steal an old car for a £150 weigh in. So its "worth it" to a skag head to steal this and weigh it in as it is. If it takes them 30 minutes to nick it and 30 minutes to drive it to the scrappies then thats a couple of hundred quid for an hours work which is more than my solicitor is earning off my divorce.
If they can spend an hour or two pulling the engine and box and get £300 no questions asked then they are still making a good hourly rate.
Also a stolen Plymouth Satellite wagon which was far rarer than this car got banger raced. Also a couple of very rare Datsuns were stolen and bangered. People will buy a shell without asking too many questions, doesn't have to be the guy who stole it who races it. (and before we start, it doesn't even have to be a banger racer who steals it if it ends up on the track...)
Forget that your car "isn't worth it" to a thief. Its all money to them.

People were nicking stuff to weigh in when it was still £30 to £50 for a car! Its always going to be worth the risk to someone with nothing to lose.

Two many people getting on the bad wagon again if its a cortina a granada or capri or yank it been stolen to be raced.Leave banger racing out of it proof is needed first. If the car does end up at a track its to late then anyway the car would be past restoring there are some bad egg people out there that will race anything but most banger drivers all own classic cars i know of two or three drivers that have over 20 cars in there collection and all road going. Most cars that end up on the track are way way past restoring for the road racing an old rotten car and restoring one for the road is 2 different things alltogether.lots of cars look nice all painted up at the track put just loo underneath they are complete sheds with no chassis or in some cases no floor pans on the passenger side

The Satellite wagon was the bronze one imported by Dave Madders and there were plenty of photos of it both before and after up on the net.
I was paid cash for my last weigh in. although it wasn't a car it was alloy wheels and so on. Maybe its tightened up in the last couple of months? Maybe theres places still paying cash. I would have thought if you're the kind of person who steals a car you'll be the kind of person who knows where he can frag it for cash.
Sadly certain cars meet certain ends. If it was a Japanese car we'd blame export, if it were an Escort we'd assume its a rally re-shell. If it were a scooby its for a bank job LOL.
Thousands of cars get stolen every year. Most of them don't turn up again. Sadly classics and rods and such are amongst them due to the lax security and the fact that people are happy to buy cheap parts without asking questions.
If it were kids joyriding it then its burnt out shell would be found within a day or so. As its not then its probably a more targeted theft for any of the obvious purposes you'd want a free 70s yanks for...
EDIT: I was about to say "its not like VW campers where you can ring one easy and sell it on, there's not thousands of rotten Dodge Monacos out there in the UK" but there was that really rotten looking '76 Plymouth Grand Fury on eBay a couple of weeks ago... The differences between Grand Fury and Monaco are basically badges and the grill....
Probably a coincidence....
