I've always loved Koos Diedel's Chevy COE truck. Ever since I first clapped eyes on it a good few years ago (along with the painfully cheesy video which I can't find) it's been one of those builds that has just made me go 'wow' or 'OOOF' every time I see it. So imagine you had the time, the money, the space and the talent to do something along similar lines, but with this: Thankfully I don't have the money. Or the time. Or space...let alone the skill to make it a reality. It doesn't stop me fantasising about it though.... What about you guys? (pics and links will always be better than just a description ) Mystery Machine, If you like that kind of thing check out DiedelsonKustom's Flickr account... www.flickr.com/photos/diedelsonkustoms/favorites/page1/?view=lg ...He has some awesome truck photos on there. e.g.

I didn't like most of the stuff to come out Boyds shop, but on the odd occasion, he (more accurately they) created something I did rather like. The 1940 Woody was such creation that did make me sit up and look more closely (although I still think the wheels were a massive let-down). I've always thought one of these would look awesome with similar treatment with the wood carried on over the front doors and up to the front wings...and panelled in between the slats too. Along with a healthy does of altitude correction, wheel fitment, colour choice and of course, something a bit tastier in the powerplant division. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LOOK-MORRIS-MINOR-TRAVELLER-RESTORATION-PROJECT-NO-RESERVE-/181065739275?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item2a285bec0bMartin, I'm liking that photoshop of the FG just a little bit too much!

I've had a notion for a while for a Woody W124 estate. This Volvo is better executed, though they're both 'shopped: Hate to tell you, but the Merc isnt 'shopped either, it was built by Bigperm.

Moving on from my terrible photoshopping detection skills... I've got a real thing for the Bell Aurens Longnose: Lacking the hundred odd thousand Euro list price, I suppose I could have a good time trying to make one? Cheapo eBay 110: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111006611215Or an ex-army one: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170977850895These ones have the wrong, later nose on them but with my welding skills, that's one of the smaller hurdles I'd have to overcome. Over-simplified, ten minutes of p-shop, schematic: I've skipped the big exhausts because I'll be at least four cylinders short of the real thing (twelve if the V16 model ever becomes a reality). Depressing comparison:

Rian, the point of the thread is to show UK vehicles that could be made following the styling cues of an iconic vehicle. (ideally with pics of one currently for sale)
Part A) show an 'iconic' vehicle.
Part B) show a UK vehicle (ideally currently for sale) that would work with the same treatment.
1001ab, that's a brilliant example! LOVE IT!!

I knew I should have turned the computer off and this thread just reminded me what a mistake it was selling this beauty. not quite as radical as some on this thread but it had some very subtle mods done to it like the back roof section of a black cab and the wood work was quite exceptional. got me thinking again ;D

Yep, flathead V8 and an early Ford commercial. Despite the lack of paperwork, I can see that fetching some seriously good coin.
1001ab, I'm still really liking your plans for the Bell Aurens. Please tell me you're going to make it a reality? If not now, at least at some point. ;D
Alex, if you can apply the look of those wagons to your Cortina, that's going to be something really special.

Not British i now but that Bell Aurens style would work with a Japanese 4x4 as well, an older Landcruiser or even a Hilux would work I think, you could use some styling cues from a Zero fighter plane maybe? Do a Jeep as well and find an airfield to dog fight on.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

Not British I now but that Bell Aurens style would work with a Japanese 4x4 as well, an older Landcruiser or even a Hilux would work Do you mean as a platform or you mean you want a long nosed, cab at the back version of a HiLux? I've been looking stuff like this all morning (slow day at the coal face) and reckon any sep-chassis vehicle would give a platform for a mock-Landie body to be mounted onto. Wouldn't necessarily need to be 4WD, might be advantages to it not being 4WD even. An old taxi or Metrocab? My wallet is stinging at the idea of using a Geländewagen for this.
