CAR Triumph TR7 v8 TR7v8 with a 4.0 v8 out of a TVR Chimaera. The body-kit was fitted when the car was sent to Grinnall cars for the v8 conversion in the late 80s. Spec includes fuel inj, lsd, power steering, coil-overs allround front brakes 310mm drilled and vented discs with brembo calipers, rear axle converted to disc brakes 276mm drilled groved and vented with cosworth calipers. Wheels are BMW 17" multispokes with 245/35 at the back and 225/35 up front, single box exhaust (sounds good) Hopefully back on the road in a month or 2 Cheers Billy

I've always thought that the TR7 was a missed opportunity for Triumph. OK it did not have the traditional looks of previous TRs, but with a few subtle alterations it could have looked great (as above) and if they were built properly it would have sold well. OK the interior is a little low rent even by the standards of the day, but even I was surprised at how well they drive. On the race circuits when reliable enough they seem to be quite competitive . A lovely result there I must say. As above, it's a shame that not enough effort was put into these cars at inception!

What are those rear light clusters off? They look Capri/Rover SD1-ish.

Never been a lover of the TR7, everyone I've seen has either been black or white. However, this is just stunning, what color is it painted? The wheels look awesome as well, great work!

Sounds fantastic - I see why they call it the Grinnall! ;D The very first car I ever 'drove' was a Triumph TR8, back in the 1980s. I couldn't quite get the hang of the automatic gearbox, and accidentally reversed it into a wall. Fortunately, no damage was done.

Oooh, DO like. Could almost be the half brother of my TVR! I have always had a soft spot for TR7s, especially V8s. Yet another car which was a lost opportuity for BL. Why on earth they didn't make more TR8s, and for the home market, we'll never know. Like it lots

Oh Yes! ;D You got a big fan here Gpbilly. I've seen your car before - really nice. I used to have a TR8 convertible in red, BL motorsport suspension with Bilsteins, four pots, 7" minilites, Holley and battery in the boot. It's still around - sold to via a dealer to Rosie Pugh of the TR Register so it went to a "good" home I have to say that car was incredible and to this day I consider building a replica it was that good. I sold it to buy a TVR 350i conv and as I've oft commented on other forums it really wasn’t a patch on the TR8. Many, many .many happy stories of the 8. My wife (bless her ex) actually used it as her daily drive for many a year and obv then moved onto the TVR which she loved ;D I once ran the 8 out to an indicated 140 on the clock and it felt so secure and safe it was no prob at all which isn't quite what I would ever say about the TVR! The development investment shone through. It's such as sad shame, as so many have said before, that BL didn't get their flippin ar*se in gear and get the 8 for the 8 DHC for the UK. I met Mark Grinnall several years ago - really nice guy. I don't actually go for the jacked up conversion I prefer the lower "hunkered down" look sitting on fat 205 minilights but heh! Great to see yours 10/10 Plenty of video here for you www.veengle.com/s/crash%20triumph%20tr-8.html

Wow. I'm familair with Grinnall, but didn't realise their take on the TR7 was so epic. That's right up my street : beefed up / Pro-Touring. How is it converted to BMW wheels? Not part of the Grinnall conversion is it?

Very nice car - I've long been an admirer of the TR 8. I had hoped to get sponsorship for my drag racing version (Vicious Trait ECA 74) - but they stopped production just as I finished the car, so I drove yet another "out of production" BL car!
