Yeah, we all know about Gone in 60 Seconds and Ronin et al, but what other old, sometime cult movies do you know of that contain brilliant car chases with kick-bottom retro motors? I'll open with the catalyst for this thread, a film from 1981 starring Michael "Ohh Btetty" Crawford called Condorman. Never heard of it today but it contains an awesome chase scene (Porsche fans may need to look away)... So, what little snippet of odd car-chase cinematography can you bring to the table? Chris

1984 film Against All Odds with Jeff Bridges and James Woods had a great race/chase withna Fezza and Porsche. Another of my faves is The Last Run with George C Scott from the early 70's about a retired getway driver that does one last job

The 1980 Kurt Russell film Used Cars has probably one of the biggest car chases of all time in it. While it's not high speed it doesn't contain more high quality 1970's chod than just about any movie ever in one massive convoy. Definitely worth a watch.

Got to put the Original Toby Halicki Gone in 60 seconds on this list and the sequel in which he was tragically killed while making.

1984 film Against All Odds with Jeff Bridges and James Woods had a great race/chase withna Fezza and Porsche. How can I just let you walk away, Just let you leave without a trace? When I stand here taking every breath with you, ooh ooh You're the only one who really knew me at all... I remember it being on one of those "How did they do these stunts in this film, they are amazing" type TV shows that used to be on Saturday morning after the big kids shows. Looked great.

Great to see that again! Last time was at the cinema in 1984! Another film i remember seeing as a kid in the early seventies was Watch Out We're Mad, curse word film but some cool racing of MK1 Escorts in the early part of the film and a few cool cars in it.

See, as some will know this is a thread that I could get FAR too carried away with since my film collection consists of stuff that people put back in the bargain bin. However, I will offer up this little gem, 1993's Cyborg Cop. Billed as a cross between Terminator and Robocop, that kind of insinuates it's taken the best parts of both films and combined them to make one fully amazing film. If only. In reality it's pretty dire and features one of the worst fight scenes committed to film, but for sheer comedy value and for the fact that it contains a car chase with many police liveried Mk1 Sierras it's definitely worth a look. Find it at your local CEX for 10p.

Got to put the Original Toby Halicki Gone in 60 seconds on this list and the sequel in which he was tragically killed while making. I didn't know he was killed making the sequel On June 9, 1989 Toby and his new wife Denice Shakarian Halicki began to shoot Gone In 60 Seconds 2 which was not a sequel, remake or based on Halicki's 1974 original. Toby Halicki wanted a new bigger story, about an international thief, specializing in high profile jobs who unwittingly becomes the central figure in a cross-continental duel-to-the-death to locate and steal a secret item before it falls into the clutches of a dangerous criminal. On August 20, 1989, while filming in Dunkirk and Buffalo, New York, Toby was preparing for the most dramatic stunt sequence in the film, during which a 160ft tall (49m) water tower was supposed to topple to the ground. When a cable attached to the tower snapped unexpectedly, it sheared off a telephone pole, which fell on Halicki, killing him instantly. Robbed the above from Wikipedia, I got the special edition DVD from Amazon which also contains the Junk Man, another of Halicki's films.
