Why is it that some coach builders, can take truly awesome cars and turn them into pigs ears? Feel free to add your examples Ferrari 412 Pavesi Ferrari 400i Meera 'S' Ferrari 330GT by Drogo Ferrari 330 GT by Zagato Ferrari 250GT Spyder by Zagato Ferrari Daytona Spyder by Nart

Ferrari 400i Meera 'S' I would. And you'd never see another on the road.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Ahh, but they are unloved. Therefore we must love them. Dem's da rulez.
Interesting post though- don't think I've seen any of them before. The Zagato Spyder I do kind of like, it's at least proportionally right even if it's not the prettiest thing out there!

For me, they are just parts donors now. Not a pretty line left on them.
I'm sure there are some examples of when it goes right we can add. Lancia Zagato?

I'd rather see a thread of nice cars than a thread of cars you don't like ... it is very un-RR to be honest.. and this is the second such thread. :/

Since when did this turn into Pebble Beech Barry Boys??
I agree with the others that the cars are cool and the intent of the thread misguided.
Maybe read your own signature - hypocritical much?

It was never intended to be a 'Barry boys' Thread. These aren't Mondeos with garish stick ons. They are retro cars, be it Ferrari's that have been transformed into something else. it was supposed to be a debate about dubious coach building. by all means add cars that have been turned from ugly ducklings into swans. Not everything built is 'Wow incredible' Over the years I think I've done my bit putting up some amazing cars.

The fact is, the people that own these, love them and cherish them for their unique quirkiness. Like we all do our own cars. Beauty = eye/beholder. I for one am extremely happy all of these exist.

And just to point out, a coachbuilt car is just that, like a suit from a tailors, you have what you want, providing you have the money to pay for it.
So don't shot the coachbuilder, he's just trying to earn a living. And the owners who have their fantasies turned into metal, good luck to them, they're spreading the money around and making the world a more interesting place.
