Got a couple of more jobs done today Full service including new Dizzy cap, rotor arm and plugs. But most importantly took it up the road and I can drive in and out of the farm gates with out scrapping the underside of the car on the ridge in the gateway RESULT. I Was a little worried I'd get the car beached in the gateway but it's all good. now I just need to go and buy the new electric cooling fan and get that fitted, then it's just chuck a bucket of water over it and go andenjoy .
More jobs ticked off the list, - new cooling fan bought and fitted - gave the alloys a good clean and a good polish ( REEEAAALLY BORING AND TIME CONSUMING ) Now just have to find time to give the car a wash and polish before taking to the road and turning money in to noise and a dirty big grin!!
Finally the Monza is back in one piece so it would have been rude not too take it out for a shake down run to see what would break or fall off
I'm happy to report that nothing broke, leaked or fell off
the the new lower suspension and Gaz adjustable shocks have transformed the car, It is so much nicer to drive and feels like a much more modern car and no more wallowing around when things get twisty. only downside is that now I can't stop driving it like a ( curse word. )
Thought I might see this on here at some point! Shame that my Monza S had to die the way it did, but at least I didn't! And I can take comfort in the fact that my original Monza S was resurrected out of the accident damaged one. Reading this is really getting my Monza mojo going now, which cannot be good for my future finances or relationship status (especially when Mark was thinking of selling his recently......!)
Welcome to RR Craig Yeah your old Monza is living on in one form or another, rear springs are fitted to mine. If you buy Marks you will be buying it with a engine thats already been Craig'd .
I was on RR before, unfortunately I can't access my old account (sootyridesagain) as the email it was linked to is no longer in use. I haven't been on here for over 2 years now, haven't owned a car for the same amount of time, I just needed to take a break from all the forums I was on. Hope fully will be rejoining ABS at some point soon too.
Will hopefully be in the market for a car when I get my bonus next month, nothing to expensive but would help a lot if it was something interesting! Not so sure that my old Monza would be ideal as it's been modified now and I'll be taking a hit with the insurance as it is. Am on the look out for a 2.5TD Omega as there still seems to be a few of them about, at least they're straight-six and RWD.....
In the short time I had the crashed Monza (VLA174X) on the road, it used to stick to it like glue. A lot less tail happy than the donor Monza (YNK793X, the one Mark currently has on the road), which was on standard Monza S springs. VLA sat a lot lower to the ground as well, but not unacceptably so, it was just about perfect.
Glad to have you back, A TD Omega is a pretty good choice especially when Mapped.
Yeah Mark has changed quite a lot on YNK, I rather like what he has done even if it's not totally my kinda thing. (Each to their own)
I know what you mean about the improved handling when on lower springs (Mantzel) My Monza when it was on standard springs and shocks used to wallow around something terrible, never inspired confidence when things got twisty, but now it feels like a totally different car, much more chuck-able! And I can still get over speed bumps with no problems.

Ok, so its been a while since I did any updates, mainly because I haven't done much due to life and stuff getting in the way.
so things that have been done other than Hooning it about and pouring lots of petrol onto the A34 on my way to the V,B,O,A Show at Billing . Had to drop the fuel tank to replace the breather pipes on top of the tank its self, should have replaced the pipe when I dropped the tank a year or so ago, instead I went for the easier option and only replaced the clips.
With that done it was time to sort out the air leak somewhere along the fuel injectors or manifold gasket.
we started the day like this
After a couple of cups of tea and maybe a biscuit or two this happened.
With the inlet manifold removed and spread across the work bench I could start work on replacing the injector seals/gaskets and all the fuel pipes
Think I got too this pipe just in the nick of time, Fireball in waiting! It's not like it's right above the exhaust manifold or anything, OHH, WAIT,, THATS RIGHT IT IS!!
A few more bits spread around.
Got it all put back together and back in place then replaced the ignition module to hopefully fixed the intermittent loss of spark.
