OK, I recently bought some 'Rays Engineering' wheels from this very forum. The only identification on them is a sticker on the inside of the rim, which is so faded you can only just make out the 'Rays Engineering' text at the bottom (see photo). I wanted to find out more about the wheels, what model they are, when they were made, if the current colour scheme is the original, and I've been speaking to Rays. They are stuck, don't recognise the wheels, but said they would be able to help if I could make out what that sticker said. My question is, is there a way of restoring the text on the stickers, to be slightly more visible, so I can read them and hopefully find out what they are? I've no ideas, other than maybe some type of ink or something that would highlight where the text was? Any ideas? The sticker in question Thanks in advance Tim

I've had to do similar before with part number lables, take a pic and on the PC try messing with the settings for the pic, brightness, contrast, gamma ect dependimg on the program you use you may have other setting to play with? Take a pic with and without flash, remember the camera can see things the human eye can not see, orbs for instance or dust and pollen as i call them lol you can even try night shot ect, it may enhance it it mat not ? Take some pics at 90deg to the lable and some at a shallower angle as it a;ters the way the flash reflects into the camera, it works on paper lables but the metalic type may be too reflective ?

If you get stuck Tim and fancy remaking a set I am happy for you to use the Rays stickers off my wheels as a base .

^ I like Bortafs idea Just make sure you use the most modern camera you can get hold of My "new" point-&-shoot captures stuff I can't make out (even the pattern on a carpet looks sharper in the pic than it does in real life ), my slightly older camera was "fine" but nothing like the newer ones.

Has it faded or worn off, if it has worn out then what you are looking at is the unfaded original surface, this should be more reflective than the non stickered area as its been exposed to less UV etc. I'm sure there will be a way to exploit this I just can't think of one at the moment.

I also like Bortafs Idea, I'll have a play with that when I can, although I'll have to borrow a decent camerea.
Thanks for the offer Chas, but I'm not bothered about actually having the original stickers, I just want to know what these say/said. Saying that, if you could send me a photo of yours, it might help work out roughly what I'm looking for?

Thanks for that mate. I tell you what though, if that blue 'RAYS' writing is only just legible on mine, the black print will have worn off completely.
What wheels are those out of interest?
