Time for leaving the forum stalker life back... haha
My name is Mauro, and I live inthe lovely jungle of Brazil, just got hold of my second car, witch I consider being my first, because what I had before was a 206+ (meh!) that almost killed me by releasing it's brake rotor.
Gonna tell you guys some of my history: I've known RR for some time, years perhaps, and always saw these incredible builds being made, which made me jealous (from the top of my head, the ones I most liked where that Escort Wagon from MysteryMachine and the white Porsche 924 from the young guy whose name went of my head, sry bro )and always made me want to buy a exquisite old brazilian car for you guys to see it's progress. (God I wanted so bad to live in UK to be part of those guys who had a garage together, garage 86 something like that, can't remember )
Well, life went on, I lost my mother to cancer some 5 years ago, bailed out from my Mechanical Engineering College, well, things went kaboom. And I was upset, a lot... The only thing going well for me was the car, I loved to drive that littlecockroach Peugeot around, did 30k miles in 2 years, that car was my therapy, my relief from the grieving world I was living... I've always loved cars, don't get me wrong, but I think the thing that pushed me towards putting my hand on the grease, full DIY style, and deciding that I want and I WILL work with Motorsports down there on Europe was those last years.
Last year, I went with my car to my birth city, some 1000 miles from where I was living when I was still in college. Getting there, I was it, my new Godess, my father had already told about this car, telling that he wanted to buy it. (He has a Fiat Palio Weekend, which is a little fiat family wagon) When I saw it, was love at first sight, I had 21 years in my back, was in the darkest of my hours, but that was my therapy upgrade, my new era, and all I could say was: "Father, if you don't buy this car I will sell a kidney to have it haha" Well, he went on saying "I can't have this car, imagine if it breaks in Corumbá!". (Corumba is my home city, in the middle of NOWHERE with just 100k habitants) I was devastated, I tought that car was ridiculously cool down here. (Cmom, it's a very rare sight in my country! haha)
Before leaving the place we saw the car, my father looked funny to me and said: "Wanna trade your car into this one?" Man, I almost had an orgasm there, ok, not quite like that, but I was happy, BLOODYhell(see? I can be a little english sometimes ahahah) happy.
So this is how everything happened, I was semi-dead in my head, just surviving, than this car came like an angel to my life and I decided to change, not gonna suffer anymore, not gonna grieve anymore, time to move on folk... And here I am, out of my former college, studying again to go to another one, looking for a degree of Mech Eng with Motorsports in sight, now I have a car that's not old, nor exclusive (Mondeo's are as commom as rain up there hahaha) but it's my little love and pride. And as I quite came to love this site, would be just natural that I shared with you guys and girls (which I particularly don't know anyone yet, but will I hope hahaha) it's story, hope I can help someone with all these words I'm gonna drop in the future haha.
Soooo, plans for it:
Early plans - Simple maintening, fiddling some bits (bloody 42 error code!), making adjustments where necessary, get some critical knowledgment, like OBD stuff, become an Ebay Professional Buyer (I will need it, a lot haha), well, talk about how life is going with the car, funny things from everyday use, I don't know, stuff... hahaha
Midterm plans - Alloys: 17" TSW Imola's, because of reasons, these type of wheels, with a OZ Superturismo look are just the S*** for my car in my opinion haha. Some Eibach or H&R Springs, little visual treatments like getting rid of the chrome grill, get a tailgate lip spoiler, ST220 badges, whatever.
Longterm plans - Go full potato and buy an Duratec 30 (my car is a little 2.0 Duratec, and it's AUTOMATIC, kind of, let me think on a word that suits it: turn-off... After getting the new V6 POWAAAR (Jeremy Clarkson came to my mind now) get a manual transmission and give him the full ST220 treatment, including some 18" alloys, probably a Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 or, if I have the guts for it, a Prodrive GT-01C, some s*** like that, can't remember the name... Some coilover's, etc.
Oh, and quoting the young owner from the white 924: "Get a girlfriend!" God I loved that thread haha, such a great guy and car!
Link to my Flickr account: DON'T CLICK ME! all right, joking...(Using it now to host images, suck that Imageshack.us!)
