Running from 1984 until 1999, the front wheel drive versions of the Toyota Starlet do not seem to have accumulated anywhere near the following that their close rival, the Nissan Micra, has. Really? Not over here. quite the polar opposite. They're only one step down from a Twincam.

I've been after a Toyota Tercel for a while, I think they're ace - I'm sure they're just Starlets with a different name. There was a gold one on ebay last year with mk1 MR2 cubey wheels. Another one popped up recently, but he wanted £750 for it, and it was red.

Have an insane drag Ep91! They also built a corolla

Telcels are on the L chassis while Starlet/Publica are P chassis, and Corolla are of course E chassis. The Tercel is also known as the Corolla II (hatch) or Corsa (sedan) in Japan and its the same chassis the Paseo/Cynos coupe uses. Early Tercels had a longitudinal FWD drivetrain configuration but switched to the conventional transverse layout for the 30 series. Size wise they slot in between the Starlet and Corolla with it being just a little bigger than the Starlet.

There was a lot over here, even gi's were popular still see Ep70/71/72's pop up for sale, still a lot of galanza's on the road but a lot got smacked mostly young owners and there lively lil things, Do see yards full of them for breaking over here, my brother has a ep82, we built and painted it last year its like a turbo'd shopping trolly, I know of about 30 gt's and galanza's that were around my town in the last ten years, I'd imagine it'd be comparable to saxo's/106's across the pond

I've always thought the Galanza was a lot higher than the Micra following.
I'd own a Galanza, I can honestly say I'd rather not even borrow a Micra.

Toyota's in general seem to have a much bigger followijg in Ireland.
I had an EP82 GT turbo. Was great fun. Crashed it into a Clio after 5 weeks of ownership.
Went looking for another recently but prices seem to have gone up, and I would want an GT Turbo and not a Glanza really.

The untrained eye sees two very similar cars; however, they are completely different. Both of them share the same chassis, from a Toyota Starlet EP70, yet the powertrains selected for each one are aimed to different kinds of drivers. The first one is a FWD version with a 1,6ltr engine producing 599WHP, clearly for the dragster fun, and the second one is an AWD version with a 2ltr engine producing 427WHP, which would suit almost every petrolhead on this planet! The outcome is two heavily modified Starlets start their own race of impressions, the choice is yours. click for details on these 2!!!

I've always thought the Galanza was a lot higher than the Micra following. I'd own a Galanza, I can honestly say I'd rather not even borrow a Micra. I love Starlets and Micras! Starlets have always been the more popular car to modify having more factory turbo versions available. However, Micras often get a bad name for being horrible granny wagons, unfairly so!! Micras are also very competent, revvy little cars, particularly with the 1300 lump. A few little tweeks and they really do fly and handle very well!! I had a mildly tweaked 1300 Super S and it was soooo much fun and was about 1/4 of the price of a Starlet turbo...... even after I had bought, modified, insured, MOTed and taxed it ;-) I currently daily a 1.0 k11 and it's great fun even standard through the lanes to work every morning! In Japan the 1300s are often tuned to 160-200bhp without a turbo! They really are bombproof!! Don't knock then until you try a tweaked one ;-) lol

In the interests of a fair balance have my favourite K11 micra - an FF drifty one!!! And of course another starlet or 2 And one with a Micra and a Starlet in
