'77 S1 Lotus Elite The Pink Red Panther.
So I've picked up a Red '77 S1 Elite a couple of months ago and have been slowing working on putting it right and plan to source and refit it with an original interior as well as lowering it on air suspension. I've started a thread on the Lotus Forums and have quite a big following as the Lotus hierarchy are watching me go through the process. However they are unaware of the twist I have for the car regarding the suspension, I mention this because to a hardened Lotus owner messing with the suspension is like blasphemy! It's almost an unwritten rule that "HOW DARE YOU TOUCH THE SUSPENSION THAT THE LATE GREAT CHAMPION CAR DESIGNER COLIN CHAPMAN HAS CREATED FOR YOUR DRIVING PLEASURE, YOU ARE NOT WORTHY!". However being a life long fan of retro modified cars and a massive Lotus fan I have decided to go against the grain and create a tarmac slapper Elite. The car has a few issues that I have been attending to such as a new clutch, there's a body alignment issue which is proving to be difficult to overcome, I'll explain later. Wheels will change also, but I want to find an original Elite interior and replace the hashed recover job someone has done in the past, I also plan to do something with the exhaust tail pipes. So all in all a nice little project for the coming Summer months, here's some photos, first is how I found it, and the second is a Photoshop image of what I envisage.
