I`ve taken this old 300 SE in part exchange today against a 205 GTi. It owes me £1000 in the deal, so up for a bargain price of £895!
It`s got the 3.0 straight 6 engine, and also has an LPG kit installed. At present, this isn`t working, but it was fully functional up until a couple of weeks ago according to the previous owner. Now, it runs perfectly on petrol, but when you go to switch over to gas, just cuts out. No problem with driving the car as is, the previous owner drove it over 100 miles to me, and I`ve done around 50 miles in it today. There`s half a tank of fuel in too at present, so if you`re quick, it`ll still be there. If not, i`ll be using it daily until the petrol light comes on! MOT`d and taxed, so ready to be driven away.
So, it`s an old Merc, and it`s £895. It`s not going to be mint. These are creeping up in value now, and very good ones are fetching up to and over £5k. This will never be a £5k car. Having said this, it`s totally solid, and all the rust patches are surface rust only, and certainly not rot. Both front wings have a couple of patches, along the N/S front door has a line of surface rust, and a couple on the rear arches. Along with these, there are numerous small scuffs etc. The drivers seat has worn a bit, but this could be cleaned, or at worst treated with leather dye. The centre armrest has a bit of damage also, which can be seen from the photos of the passenger seat. Also, wood surround near the gear shifter is a bit loose.
All tyres are good, engine runs well, gearbox changes up and down as it should with fully functioning kick down. I have a folder full of receipts and history, including the gas certificate etc. Just the one key though.
I know these break well, but as per normal, I`d rather keep a car on the road than splitting it. I`ll be driving it daily, so will update with any other issues/quirks I find.......if any.
Come and take a look, and have a drive. I`m confident it will take you wherever you need to go with minimal fuss.

Any questions, fire away.
