I've got a Veglia water temperature & matching oil pressure gauge I'de like to make work - I think they may be from a XJ6 - I've ordered a couple of potentiometers to use as variable resistors to work out what resistance range the senders i'm going to need will be BUT the gauges are marked as 12v does this mean they will run direct from the battery so it'll be upto about 13.5v when running or do they need a steady stabilised 12v supply? The OE instruments run on 5v so thats not much help....
Second question does anybody have the schematic of a circuit to build to drive different gauges with different senders - i'm sure i've seen it on the net years ago but i can't find it now only ready built systems. I want to drive the original ford fuel gauge from the LPG tank level sender and the resistances are wildly different - I am aware just how accurate LPG level senders are in older tanks but it would be nice to do anyway
Thank you for the help
