Thanks for all the help again, guys. Just read through some of that thread about the Golf on the Renault wheels: "Renault scenic ones 16x6.5, with 165/40s with some big spacers on the back as they're et 49" According the bloke who owns the car. They'll cost me a mint, won't they? (How much does a set go for with tyres - I could only find single wheels on ebay) Will I need to buy longer bolts to get them to fit, if I buy spacers? (Don't worry, I've just bought the oil, so I can crack on with the service, first!) Oh, and Euro Car Parts have got another 50% off sale

The 16inch scenic steels seem to go for 50 quid each on ebay with tyre, I'm sure you could probably get a set cheaper if you went down a scrappy or something Longer bolts tend to depend on how long the original bolts are and how much you're spacing out by I think, though I'm not an expert on the matter, I've got bolt on spacers which removes the issue

The Hyundai wheels are the rims only. No tyres. Still worth £25 each? Thanks for your help, guz

Cheers, Woodster. On a side note, does anyone know the size of spark plug socket needed on the 1300 engine? Thanks I've just ordered my parts for servicing. £27! (ECP's don't have a rocker cover gasket, but I'll find one cheap enough) I don't know how to replace my dizzy cap and arm, though (Let's hope I've bought the right one! Just picked the orange one, the same colour as mine....) It has a metal "cage" over it. Does it just unclip? What's it for? Thanks

Thanks, Jon. What the hell is it for? I think it's got an earthing strip on it.......I've seen pictures of other 1.3 engines with it missing, though.

I have no true idea, but i believe it's what holds on the 'cap' rather than screws. The ones that don't have it fitted must be a different dizzy housing. Don't hold me to that as I've not ever worked on one of these engines. Its just through experience of working on other cars. I will hold my hands up if I'm wrong :S

Ah, cheers for that, Jon. It makes sense, now. After looking at all of the dizzy caps listed on ECP's, I can see that none of them have screw holes on them.
Had a small set back today. Went into my local Wilco, to see if they had the metal/foil pipe that runs from the exhaust manifold to the air box. They told me that it would be a main dealer only part. Any ideas as to where I could find one? (As I doubt even my local VW dealer would even stock them anymore.....) There's a picture of the piping on the previous page. Cheers
EDIT: I've also got a rocker cover gasket. It there a set way it goes on? (As I know there's little cut outs on the top of the engine) Will my Haynes manual tell me how to put it on correctly? (Very sorry for the stupid questions.....)

Just go to a scrapyard and get one Mate of mine has a Mk2f Polo with the same pipe, only cost a couple quid at a scrapyard if that

Thanks for the reply, guys. Off to the scrappy, I go! Oh, and I got a bit carried away, this afternoon (As the weather was pretty good) At least the car will look nice when it fails the MOT (LOL)

Well, I had a very busy afternoon with the car (Nice to have some time off work to be fair - Thanks to "Mr. Phoenix" for the assistance ) The engine bay has turned from this: To this (Painted the top of my rad and heat shield with stove paint - much tidier) Now sporting the satin black badge in the grille, as well................... And now the interior's now got a bit more "bling" in it: Jobs also finished today are; New rocker cover gasket, wipers, oil change (and flush - the oil was like tar) Bit worried the whole of the engine is caked in oil, though And also we managed to remove one spark plug. I'll be buying a 21mm plug socket for my longer bar, so we can complete the other three. Had fun with the plugs, as well. Didn't realise that you need to remove the little metal end cap on the plugs so they fit into the HT leads. That took a few minutes for the penny to drop..... Managed to get the cam belt cover off, and the belt was a "Motaquip" item. So, it must have had it changed sometime in it's life, as it's an after market part. God knows when, though! I'm going to wrap the breather pipe in aluminium tape (any suggestions?), as I think it's save-able (I've trimmed off all of the damaged parts, and it only has one small hole in it) Something like this: www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-aluminium-foil-tape-48mm-x-50m/35529#Or this?: www.wilcodirect.co.uk/product/general-maintenance/Elephant-duct-Tape-Silver-45MSo next on the list is to sort the little bits of bodywork, and finish the service/cleaning the engine bay out. I've also got new front indicators and side repeaters (As the NS one's hanging half-way down the wing!) Then it's MOT time! Many, many thanks for all the help

Id say do it. Otherwise gaffa tapes also great for that (used it on my old Volvo for a similar application) Looking good with the bit of detailing you've done. Best of luck for the m.o.t mate ??

Thanks, Jon. I'm buying some ally tape tomorrow (Just bought some mats and a parcel shelf strap, as well! I can't stop!)
Oh, and why the sad smiley and the question marks? You know I love ya! (In a purely car-based way, of course......)
