Hi , just wondering if anyone has any experience of doing this , or has got it done by anyone .There seems to be no information about or how easy/difficult it is . The reason I'm asking is its worth paying 5k for a relatively rust free LHD car rather than 5k for a english rotbox or 3k for a rusty shell then throwing another 3k at it.
Any thoughts Ford lovers ?

Personally if you are throwing that sort of money about I would go for an Australian, New Zealand or South African import at least then its RHD to start with and potentially lots less rot depending on whereabouts its been.

It seems easier to get a lefthand drive really , and to be honest a lot of those South African cars look well dodgy , nice tarted up paint but rusty floor pans .I thing a good few people are over there having a laugh at what they send over . Its all hypothetical , its alot of money for what i would regard as pretty boring for that money until you change a lot of it.

It depends how fussy you are but heres a list off the top of my head,
Headlights Steering rack Dash Instrument cluster Front half wiring loom And if your fussy... A scuttle grill Wiper mech Wiper motor But the above will work in rhd, you could also just modify the loom to suit the new position of the switches. There will be other things too but that will get you started

My concern is the bulkhead , with the square shape pressing where the steering goes through .Am i right in thinkng you could cut it from the left and weld it in the right or does it have the holes in the wrong place so a rhd piece is needed .

find a rotten old 4 door and you will have allthe bits you need and then sell off everything that is left over, BUT even a rotten old 4 door will cost you a fortune. I'm not sure how you would go with the insurance and the gvlc or who ever they call themselves now
