Title says it all really, thinking about new er technology for the transit, I like the way v6 duratec engines go, s type jags are cheap donors but, other than mating to a type 9 or t5 box with a new bell housing there doesn't seem to be much else available. Bearing in mind transits kill type9 boxes for a hobby when worked hard this isn't a route I want to go down. Does anybody have experience of just how good/ bad the getrag box is, internet wisdom suggests they are throw away once worn.... In an ideal world I would bolt it up to my known good 4 speed and add an overdrive for use as a splitter as well or go for a MT75 transit box..
Thanks

if they've kept their usual numbering standard - the Getrag 221, should be good for 221Nm of torque So as long as you're not planning on big power, it should be fine. Have you considered an R380? Cheap as chips, as common as a cold, and built like a brick outhouse

Its right on the limit with the standard engine then, 300 Nm 221 lb-ft! Deleting the cats should gain me a bit. I think i'll be looking at custom adaptor plates
Edit just checked the specs for the MT75 and its the same rating so i'de better get busy with a tape measure...

Not broken yet Its more the high torque, low rpm's and road speed end i'm wondering about, thats what seems to kill the type 9's - you can put silly power through them in a car but a loaded transit with 70bhp will eat them regularly. How did they bolt them up to the Saab engines?

Mt75 boxes are a mixed bag really have seen them destroyed easily at 200 and also seen them last ages at 350 luck of the draw tbh
