did a bit of photoshopping, this is the sort of look I'm going for with the wheels and i removed the door cappings as i think it gives the car a smoother look?

Looks great though I can't help but feel it needs to be hit with a lowering stick.

my other pair of wheels turned up today, not 100% the same but as close as I'm going to get painted one of my other wheels and polished it and i had an old fibreglass capri mk1 rs rear spoiler lying around...turns out its almost a perfect fit as a front bib spoiler for the mazda with a few mods

By door cappings do you mean the bump strips halfway down the doors or the chrome finisher at the bottom of the windows? If the former go for it, if the latter don't.

i quite like the rubber strips... its retro, just give them and the bumpers a good rub over with some bumper back to black type stuff and you may well end up liking them yourself when they are nice and shiny black again. like that chin splitter, good look.
shame about the slight wheel mismatch.. i have the wolfrace turbovecs (which look exactly like your first set) my brother has a set of 4 for sale but they are bmw 4x120 fit.

Lovely old bus, as as Smurph said, it's really rare now. I used to work at a local garage back in the early 90's. My mate was smoking around in the W plate 1300 323 hatch at the time, which was ridiculously lively for what it was. I had the opportunity to borrow one of these from the garage occasionally - it was identical to this one - A plate, metallic green estate with a 1500 lump. Lovely to drive, but soooo slow compared to my mates little 1300 hatch. I can only assume that the estate had led a hard life until that point! Keep the door rub strips on I reckon Wheels and lows will make it stand out instantly.

been doing a few bits and bobs - given the car a service plugs altinator water system flush thermostat
which seem to keep the car happy for a bit but its now keeps spitting its water out on short ish trips (it did it before a couple of times which is why i flushed the system) but its doing it more regularly now
i flushed the water system out and the water was very brown and the thermostat and housing was caked in like brown sugar so i cleaned and changed all that but all the water keeps spilling out of the overflow tube on about 10 ish mile trips and i havnt found the culpret yet, spills out whilst I'm going along i beleave - somtimes after trips the bottom hose is hot but the top cool....also a small oil leak has developed between the block and head i think...any ideas as I'm all out at the minute? think the timing and carb could do with tuning, its not very out just could do with a tune

If its spilling out of the overflow the system has an airlock, pressure is building up and forcing the water out. Top and bottom hoses should feel the same temperature.

Cool car this, lots of potential! Cooked linseedoil (DIY-shop, 2 euros for 5 liters) for them bumpers. You'll be amazed how they turn out after 1 or 2 layers.

I can't help but think its going to look very strange with a bib spoiler without lowering it and leaving huge arch gaps.

yeh it wants a little lowing but i cant afford it at the minute, plus nothings available for this car anyway lol (it was supposed to be a cheap retro ride)
ill try the linseed oil thing aswell
and could be an air lock, would there still be one even tho i emptied the system and re filled it?
